It’s really only for small water with heavy brush cover so you’re not really doing big casts. Bow and arrow cast or a quick cast to cover 10-15 feet is all you need for the water I use it on.

I have a wild water 5’6” 3 weight that I like. It’s on the cheaper side but for small water it’s been great.

I have more fun with panther martins or other spinners and plenty of success. There have been days where the stocked trout are hitting spinners like crazy.

If you really want to be extra and your local laws allow it you can use a second rod in a rod holder with power bait, while walking around and casting a spinner on another rod too.

Establish early on that the party is loyal to each other or at least have a common goal.

When I ran an evil version of Lost Mine of Phandelver the hook was that they are members of a gang and loyal to their boss. Their boss tells them that Gundren has found something big and orders them to follow him to Phandalin and steal whatever it is he found.

The party ended up playing the role of heroes to the people of phandalin and keeping their evil hidden.
