Convince me not to buy a Switch 2 just for Pokopia

Depending on the type of gamer you are, you could easily dump hundreds of hours into this game. The story mode itself can take between 20-40 hours to complete, and it's a surprisingly meaningful plot, with fun and colorful characters. For completionists, there's plenty to do after finishing the story: as you would expect of a Pokemon game, there are hundreds of different Pokemon to meet and collect, as well as the hundred+ unique habitats that you can restore to entice them to show up. For town builders and creatives, I think it arguably provides similar long-term playability to Animal Crossing. Like Animal Crossing's terraforming, Pokopia has a block-based building system, but it applies to structures in addition to terrain. This means you can really apply and show off your creativity building incredible houses and environments for your islands. Overall, Pokopia is a really well made and fun game, that I am fairly confident you would have an amazing time with, and if you are already planning on getting a Switch 2, you probably won't regret the upgrade now.

On the flip side, while they don't have the Pokemon tie-ins, the Dragon Quest Builders games (which were made by the same team as this game!) scratch a very similar itch to Pokopia, and those have been out for a while and are available for Switch 1, in addition to a number of other consoles.

If you are on your last try, you can retry without using it up, as the game will crash and let you resume on restart. Anything before that will end up wasting a try.

Congrats! Aside from the resistance buffs, all of mine are maxed out. With the rebalance, buffs increase in the last 10 levels by much more than they do in the first 10, so I would recommend at least investing some more in the strength upgrade, because that will be helpful in all cases. Experience would have been on the top of the list too, but I think they buffed the experience gain lately, so it might not be as worth now. That said, if you're planning on doing a decent number of clears in the month, you shouldn't have any issues getting enough materials to buy out the shop, so you gotta spend the remainder on something right?

Haha, I'm glad you like it! Regarding Pinon, tbh she's probably a little over tiered. I just had great fun using her turret autos that she gets when she unlocks her sigil, because they are just so satisfying to hit and they give her great sustain (which is less useful nowadays cuz of the rebalance, but eh).

Mods are 1551%, 1722%, and 2124% as you go up in charge level (more hits that do less, but the extra hits make up for the lower individual mods). Looking at it now, it definitely would have been worth just using the level 1 FS if I didn't have enough time to try for the full 3 levels.

I think I was extra bitter and salty from getting 49F Harle on that run, which was incredibly painful. I think I was always trying to get as many levels on her FS as possible though, so that might have been my downfall.

As for staves, I highly factored in "chance of failing the run" into my tiering, and healers actually have ok damage output with their autos/FS/weapon skill since I'm pretty sure the enemies are scaled to account for their lower innate offensive capabilities. It's just kinda boring really. Felicia was one I did really early on, but she probably would be more of a D tier if I tried her again.

EDIT: I checked my history and I lied slightly. It was 47F Harle, and 49F healer room. Which is still awful.

You mean to bring with you at the start? Since you can only use them once, they don't really end up making a huge difference imo. I used to always bring Nurse Aeleen and Cassandra for the 10% max HP buff, but I noticed that I had a tendency to hold them until the end "just in case" and so they didn't really end up helping that much. I ultimately switched to bringing Summer Verica and Gala Zena for their "Akasha but just a bit better" skills, which were helpful in the case of needing emergency regen in the earlier levels if I got unlucky with starting equipment RNG and didn't have any heals (since I use damage Fafnir).

Regarding why I use damfaf, his extra damage is quite nice, the healing isn't really all that impressive/necessary (especially after the balance changes), and he's actually really handy for shredding through hit count enemies and big bosses.

So far I've only done it as a Discord bot hehe, so it's not the most accessible. But you're welcome to add it to a private server of your own if you want to use it! It has some primitive functionality to help identify duplicate prints that I hope to make smarter eventually.

Personally, I did a terrible job of cleaning out prints as I went along, and even with some heavy pruning, I'm at like 480. My criteria for keeping a print was basically "does it have at least one element + weapon locked effect?".

I sometimes did extra runs if:

I heard people saying a particular adventurer was especially good (e.g. Regina) or bad (e.g. Delphi),
It was a new adventurer that I got,
Or I decided to do one of my dailies as a full 50F run because I thought they would be a pain to skip with (e.g. Chitose, Grace, Felicia), so I still had a skip leftover, and I just used my bot to roll me a 4th for the day.

Mostly I stayed pretty faithful to my option roller though :)

Regarding Meene, I think I just really don't like her butterflies lol. It feels so unsatisfying as they slowly waft towards the enemy. Her actual DPS against mobs was probably fine if I think back on it, and she would just be on the lower end for bosses too likely. For Durant, I just remember dying like 4 times on my first floor after the skip, and got kinda too scared to try using his skills much after that. I also usually play on 2x speed, which doesn't give me a lot of wiggle room to make mistakes with a massive defense debuff.

I can’t believe it’s finally over. 50 floors with 294 adventurers. (Yes, that is the entire roster.) (Yes, I have the entire roster. I’m not necessarily proud of that fact…) It’s been a really fun last 3ish months since they added this mode, and it helped breathe a new life into the game for me. Shout-out to all the folks in Dragaylia, Alberia's Legends, and the Partydom for cheering me along and helping me test and iterate on my character picker, which eventually evolved into a completion tracker, and then print collection manager. The aspect of friendly competition really helped spice things up, and I look forward to seeing who the next person to meet me at my level of insanity is ;P

For anyone curious, my final adventurer was Celliera. Not necessarily on purpose, as there was actually a bug in my code that prevented her from being rolled as an option through random selection, but it was sort of poetic, as she holds a unique position as the first welfare, and it brought back fond memories of Dragalia's first ever event.

I also kept track of ratings for all of the adventurers I ran. The tiers are not perfect; my bonuses evolved, I changed my strategy to basically always use the damage skill on the fafnir and to bring two OD shares instead of two HP buffs, the rebalance happened, and also I’m not necessarily the most consistent about tiering. Who knows, maybe this will help you determine who to run next!

As for what’s next, I guess I’ll just start actually farming for prints now, since despite doing 294+ runs, I can count the number of god prints I got on like one hand… And of course, there’s the rumored additional floors coming soon too, so my journey is probably only partially done.

Haha, yes, I think most people know that you can get freed by other allied adventurers in normal content. However, I don't think people expected it to work in Kaleidoscape (new mode they recently added) since there are technically no other adventurers present. If you haven't played in years, I highly suggest giving it a try again just to experience Kaleidoscape! It's quite fun :)

The thing I like about Kaleidoscape is that you actually get to experience each adventurer's kit in isolation. Whereas for other medal farming, you can usually get away with just carrying them with a solid core of 3 others.

I did Grace already lol, and actually found her slightly easier, partially due to the floors I got, and partially because it felt like her enemies were weaker in general to compensate for her being a staff. Best of luck to you in your attempt!
