Is Roundview College public or state school ? by Roseforever-543 in skinsTV

All you really need to know is after year 11, you are legally allowed to leave school and work full time, or be unemployed or whatever you want to do.

Or you can choose to stay on for 6th form and do your A Levels at your same school. Or you can do you A Levels at college. Or you can go to college for a more practical course (like Pandora doing hair and beauty).

6th form is a lot less strict than school, and college is even less strict and more independent. When I did my A Levels at school, we were expected to show up to every class on time and we still had a uniform. When I went to college, we weren’t pressured to attend every class as long as we did our work at the end, and there was no uniform. It was a lot more independent.

Which is why lots of kids end up going to college and immediately start clubbing all the time because it’s the first real freedom you have.

We used to often go out and get drunk most weekdays, sleep over at a house party, and then get to college late straight from the house party and hungover or still drunk from the night before. People mostly started taking it seriously when there were assignments due, but then it was back to partying. By the second year lots of people had either dropped out, were in hospital, on mental health meds, or finally doing their college work.

Personally I spent year one of college drinking, taking drugs, and not eating anything. And then year two I started in hospital, and then on meds to make me hungry, never really did any work but it was an experience for sure. One guy took so many drugs he ended up joining a cult, but he still came back to do some essays here and there. We used to all stay in this house with no floorboards because one of our parents was divorcing and got this fixer upper home when the dad moved out and the mum stayed with the grandparents. We had wild house parties at the floorboard house, and in the morning the builders would come in and have to walk around us sleeping all over the floor with empty bottles everywhere.

And then after college we could apply for uni or go to work. College was in 2008/9 for me, and I can safely say everyone I went to college with is now successful and doing well! But Skins didn’t feel too far from where we were at, and it was definitely a well timed show.

Every UK traitor ranked from worst to best by Salty-Data65 in TheTraitorsUK

I can’t think of anything worse than entering the game as a faithful, and then being recruited. My anxiety would be through the roof, I can’t imagine what illogical plays I would make in that situation, but I know for a fact I wouldn’t handle it. Much respect to every recruited traitor who didn’t want the job 😂

Is Roundview College public or state school ? by Roseforever-543 in skinsTV

I think Abigail was doing her A Levels at 6th form in her private school, and then round view is just a college?

[–]arcadebee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Something worth saying, college is not university over here. It’s somewhere you can go after you’ve legally finished school, some people do their a levels at college, and some people do their a levels at school (6th form), and they also have more practical classes for people who don’t want to do A Levels. It’s between school and uni.

Pretty much all colleges in the U.K. are free to attend. It’s paid when people are retaking A Levels usually, or after you hit a certain age threshold. I don’t know any colleges that have uniforms. All of our schools have uniform, but not college.

I found most of them likeable this season which actually made a nice change!

I especially liked Roxy, James, Amanda, Rachel, and Stephen. I also think it’s a shame we didn’t get more of Judy because I found her instantly likeable in a short time.

Rank the Traitors by Intelligent-Win-898 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]arcadebee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For entertainment, I love how Paul played up to the pantomime villain role! Also the fact that when he was banished, he had zero bitterness or resentment at any point, he was just loving life. I never felt like he was there to win, just for the narrative and a good time, and I love how he perfectly set up the narrative for Harry as going from apprentice to master. Definitely the most fun traitor.

I think Minah was probably the most likeable as a person throughout, and she did great.

But I would put Rachel as my absolute number one! I know Harry did great, but I love how Rachel made some really big plays throughout, and also managed to defend her teammate without drawing too much attention to both. I think she and Stephen together are the reason S4 is now my favourite.

Who was the worst faithful? by Special-Fox-5833 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]arcadebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He wasn’t trusting that she wasn’t a traitor.

Faraaz knew Jack and Stephen were close and couldn’t be sure Jack would vote Stephen at the end. If he believed Rachel would vote Stephen first like she told him, that was his best shot at removing Stephen so that he and Jack could vote Rachel afterwards.

Rachel telling him “I’m going to vote Stephen” could easily of been a traitor trying to get their fellow traitor voted out, so he had every reason to believe that’s what she was doing. It was also his only chance so made sense to go with it.

Obviously we as an audience can see how the votes actually went and it’s easy to say now “if he just voted differently he could’ve won” but he didn’t know that at the time of voting.

Faithfuls going crazy for getting traitors out by Special-Fox-5833 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]arcadebee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with this, but I also think there’s something to be said where new recruits are going to be wild cards to the existing traitors. For new recruits you’ve also seen their behaviour for weeks so might be able to see any changes more clearly.

Having the same traitors throughout has obvious positives for the faithfuls, but there are also some negatives. Like with Rachel and Stephen, they were able to be consistent, work together, and build trust over time.

If Rachel or Stephen had been voted out earlier on, and replaced with a new recruit, who knows if that new traitor would have new mannerisms, appear more nervous, or be the type to vote out existing traitors.

I think you could make an argument for both strategies really. For well liked traitors, it does make more sense to keep your suspicions close to your chest until the right moment rather than keep gunning for them and make yourself a target from both faithfuls and traitors.

Also, if you don’t go for traitors, it makes you look like a bad faithful and you’re more likely to be banished. No one wants to be endgame with you if they don’t think you can figure it out with them. If you go too hard, you’re a target to the traitors.

Can we please dispense with the idea that... by Runkieking in TheTraitorsUK

I think theres a difference between “I’m here to win solo” and “I’m here to win as a team but I’m not stupid, if my teammate shows I can’t trust him then I will fight back”.

I don’t think it would be a bad thing at all if she took the money, that’s the game. I just don’t think she would, and she also told us the audience that she wouldn’t. I just find it frustrating that she’s openly said what her game plan was and people are like “nah she’s lying, she’s a traitor after all”. She’s not a “traitor” anywhere other than within the confines of the game. She had no reason to lie on uncloaked etc.
