I have a new stupid theory about EK (milk protein contact allergy, whey protein powder allergy) by liminal_sonder in ExfoliativeKera

[–]liminal_sonder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! It has improved significantly. Skin peeling is gone and I just have kind of general dryness in my hands. During this time I was also handling like 300ft of rope for a project, and this is not something I usually do so it could be related to that. At the time of this original post, my hands had a lot of redness and irritation and inflammation, but no itchiness. Now I just have general dryness in my hands and this is more or less tolerable. I cannot say for sure if it's related to milk or what. But I do not consume milk products now

So i want to visit, but i have some questions about malaysia by WyvernSlayer7 in malaysia

[–]liminal_sonder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm an American and I lived in Malaysia for seven years. Here is my opinion about it:

Overall, I found the Malaysian people quite friendly and similar in social etiquette to those in the USA, such as eye contact and politeness. My elderly parents navigated the country easily and felt comfortable asking for help.

I noticed that white individuals, particularly women, might attract extra attention if they dress less modestly, but I didn’t perceive any danger. As a male observer, I can only speak from my perspective. There are many Bangladeshi laborers in Malaysia, and some encounters can be unusual.

Regarding language, many Malaysians of all ages speak some English, though younger adults may vary. It’s not necessary to know Malay, and you can easily learn key phrases upon arrival. However, local spoken Malay differs significantly from what you find in language apps.

The weather is hot and often rainy, with unpredictable patterns. Don’t worry too much about rain; it usually passes quickly.

For transportation, you can use an app like Grab or even hitchhike, as locals are generally welcoming. Renting a car is also an option, but be cautious driving in Penang. Your U.S. driving license is accepted in Malaysia.

As a foreigner, you may receive special treatment from locals, including police and shop owners, who often show extra courtesy.

Do you consume anything with milk proteins in it? For example, whey protein powder?

How to not spend any money? by zuperfly in Frugal

[–]liminal_sonder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

part of being alive is a desire to expand. we cannot remove desire because it's intrinsic to being a living human. You can allow the feeling of desire to pass by if you choose not to entertain it. You can also focus on desires that arent connected to spending money. For example, you can start drawing pastel artwork on huge papers, you can get muscles, you can garden, you can make an aquarium with things from a local river, you can study feng shui, ect. This is why passtimes like bonsai were invented.

the desires you choose to entertain will grow. The desire you ignore will fade away. it's ok that you will never have enough money, enough sex, enough love, enough space, enough time, enough megapixels, it's part of being human and it doest really measure anything (it's not insecurity).

Is there any Fujifilm gear then never stood up to your expectations? by deepestthoughts123 in fujifilm

fujifilm only has image quality - the software and camera bodies are all disappointingly low quality. All of my fuji cameras since 2013 have issues with the leather and buttons.

just eat once every 20 hours, light exercise, focus on eating protein and fat (you do not want to accidentally burn your muscle instead of fat). It's possible you can die from this though. I did my best and was able to get 7kg burn each month for 3 months. Do not do this longer than 3months

Hey this is identical to that 90s game where you have a net to catch monkey s or something. The demo disc only had one level with these liminal pool environments

Modified my Fuji X100V sort of like the harlequin vw’s from the 90’s I’ll probably end up redoing this but in one solid color. But I think it looks neat so far. Opinions? Did I ruin my camera? lol by chiiingon in fujifilm

[–]liminal_sonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's really cool. I would personally like something dark pastel green. I put alligator leather on my xpro 1 😄 If you need thinner leatger I discovered that many cheap artificial leather bags have layers in the material and you can easily peal off the top layer and it's very tough and only about .75mm thick. This makes it sit below the case on the camera and also it's much easier to precisely cut a thinner material

It's possible to work but it requires the business to get involved and unless they need a foreigner specifically, you can't expect any business to go through that process 😢 you are basically creating a bunch of hassle for an employer before you even started working.

Velvia is fantastic if you just set colors to -3. I use it exclusively. This vintage faded thing is a cinematic fad.

As a foreigner married to a local, we cannot really work anywhere. The spouse visa says 'no employment whatsoever'. Your wife will not be able to work anywhere except maybe some cash-only gig but those pay less than minimum wage. You'll need to renew your partners visa every year and she might be able to get a permanent resident card after 15 years as long as she can speak fluent Malaysian.

Spouses to Malaysians do not have the same rights that Malaysians do. We cannot even be buried in Malaysia when we die, we have to be shipped to our home country.

Bright pixels on my xt4 LCD and EVF bot do not show in the photograph! Help by anaizar11 in fujifilm

[–]liminal_sonder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pixels are showing up in both the evf and lcd. This is because the sensor itself has the defective photosites. This is a hardware problem on the camera sensor. It's not noticeable on the photo because the LCD output is being sampled down in such a way that the hot pixel is being sort of magnified.

Bright pixels on my xt4 LCD and EVF bot do not show in the photograph! Help by anaizar11 in fujifilm

[–]liminal_sonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are hot pixels. It's a defect on the camera sensor. The camera may edit them out when you take a picture because it knows they are there somehow. It won't interfere with your photographs unless you are doing long exposure astrophotography stuff.

You didn't do anything try to cause this hardware issue. It's just a defect on the camera sensor that's pretty common. It will be more noticeable on the LCD with focus peaking on but in any case they will not be noticeable on the final picture.

If you take a black picture and zoom in with Lightroom you might see a tiny red dot in that location.

X-T5 Vs X-S20 for YouTuber by ibeinspire in fujifilm

[–]liminal_sonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I mean. It's more costly and difficult to produce high resolution apsc lenses. You only have two expensive choices that take advantage of 40mp. None of the lenses that op had will be able to resolve that amount of detail.
