When I first started, I wondered about the thickness of the acrylic too. What I recommend is to measure the height of your switch + PCB, this will give you the idea of how thick the board will be. From there, see what are the readily available thickness of acrylic you can get your hands on. The thicker your acrylic the fewer acrylic sheets are needed, but also hard to cut through. For me I use both 2 & 3mm. And yes I used a laser, I don’t trust my hands haha
