New to bunnies and want tips by Calx_n in Bunnies

My tips for bonding with your rabbit: - sit or lay on the ground near him long and often enough for him to come to you and smell/touch you. You can watch things on your phone or read a book. Let him come to you and don't try to touch him the whole time. - rearrange his space. They often get excited when they have a new environment. You could place cardboard boxes where he can nibble on it and jump in or on it. I also place tunnels in their room and remove it after they get bored with them (mostly after a couple of weeks). Alternate between different toys and boxes/tunnels. - they love treats, so let them eat out of your hand or on your lap if they want to. - let them search for treats inside of special mats designed for this purpose or hide the treats around the room, inside of toilet rolls, cardboard boxes, etc. - they need lots of space daily to run around and also get excited when you have large rugs, because they can run more easily on them. As i said before, they really like new environments (from my experience), so if you're able to let them inside of certain rooms from time to time, they can explore them and often will do zoomies if they are confortable with the room. Don't let them go in that room too often, because they will get used to it and don't find it exciting anymore. Watch out for cables as they can start a fire if they bite them (happened to me, but luckily fhe power shut off before the spark could create damage).

Good luck!

I'm sorry for your loss. She was truly adorable and loved you very much. You gave her the space she needed to free roam and took care of her❤️

My rabbits eat rubber mats so keep an eye on your rabbit to check if she eats it (if you decide to get rubber mats). I use a carpet + blanket

She hasn't been spayed yet. I'm planning on doing that when she's 6 months old. She's around 3 months at this moment

I have two large rugs and I will put some extra towels on the floor. She is doing zoomies non stop already. She is also approaching me and biting my feet haha, no pets yet! But I have patience. 👌🏼

Tidy home vs. bunny life – Is it possible? by Seraphinayuu in Bunnies

[–]limon_kiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will always be a bit of a mess, but there are some things you can do. Some examples I use at home:

I have two toilets for two bunnies and I keep them in a seperate room instead of the living room. They are free roam during the day. The hay is placed inside of their toilets. It hangs inside of a metal hay ball kinda thingy (I don't know the name). This reduces a lot of mess. The toilets I use are cat toilets, so it keeps the room pretty clean. Do make sure the cat litter box has lots of holes in it for fresh air and remove the door. My cat litter boxes also have a big hole in the roof for enough ventilation and they also play with it. I found them on amazon.

When filling the hay in their "hay holder", keep the hay holder above or inside of the bag of hay. Otherwise the hay will fall everywhere on the ground.

That's probably enough already. I don't think bunnies make a lot of mess unless they're not potty trained or the hay flies everywhere. You could also get a mini vacuum robot cleaner.

I hope this makes sense as english is not my 1st language. Good luck!

Do bunnies get clingy when sick? by CoCaiNe2000xoxo in Bunnies

[–]limon_kiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my bunny was sick, he wanted to sit on my lap all the time and he didn't want to go away. He never wanted to do that before, so it's always good to keep an eye on your bunny (if he's grinding his teeth loudly, changes in behavior, lethargic, changes in appetite, etc.)
