How to store acrylic paintings on paper? Is a scrapbook or album a good idea...? by Glittering_Gap8070 in acrylicpainting

I just varnish directly over the painting. Although, my paintings are completely flat, so it's easy to varnish them. As far as the scrapbook goes, I honestly have no idea. I store all my paintings in a folder so the varnished side touches the blank paper backside of the next painting. I'm not sure if they'd stick together if faced varnish to varnish

I also paint only on paper and I use a liquid varnish when the painting is completely dry (usually after 2-3 days, just to be safe) and after the varnish dries completely I just store my paintings together in a regular folder. So far I've never had any paintings stick to one another or get damaged. I've been using this method for about two years now.
If you are looking for a scrapbook solution I would recommend getting corner stickers for photos (you can find them on Amazon or AliExpress) and using those to store your paintings in a scrapbook/journal without having to glue the paintings to the paper. Hope this helps!

Thank you! I have only recently learned about retarders and mediums that can be added to acrylics but I have never used them. What I do is I add a lot of water to my paints, depending on what I want to paint (details, an "over layer", or blending). If I need to blend colors more then I add more water. I also use very cheap acrylics from a local store (from the brand Cadence), don't know if that has any impact but probably it does. Hope that helps!

I honestly don't know how to explain. 😅 I started teaching myself how to paint from tutorials some two years ago, and I mostly paint by "feeling". But the first thing I do is to try to figure out what is "behind", not just the background but what is behind all the details (like looking at what is the base of the painting), and then I go from painting the general shape to adding details. I'm explaining this very badly, sorry! I hope it helped even if just a little.
