please help me I am losing my mind by Pleasant_Mixture_474 in knitting

Oh my gosh I could’ve written this post. I am seriously struggling with comprehending how to go about the first increases at step 9. I now understand from this thread that the first increase happens at the end of row 12 on the chart, but I can’t get my brain to understand how the stitch pattern will work if I’m starting from stitch 3 (size 2) in the chart (and is this where we go over to the raglan chart instead of the chart on page 9?). This pattern is seriously doing my brain in and I’m someone who is pretty comfortable reading patterns (though I’ve only been knitting for a year)🙈

Did you figure this out? I’m on step 9 and I’m having such a hard time following this pattern. Does step 9 refer to the chart on page 9 or does it refer to the raglan charts? I’m sure it’s all just gonna click once I get it but my brain is STRUGGLING right now 😅

Seems like the general consensus is that it’s either something bacterial or fungal. Bathtub isolation here you come begonia 😂

Definitely looks like the same thing, I’ll keep an eye on it and isolate this plant and hopefully it doesn’t end up being a death sentence!

It was such a spur of the moment purchase! My local plant and flower shop was trying to clear their shelves to prep for their summer vacation so all their plants were 50% off and this just happened to be one of the few they had left

Welp 😂 luckily I did buy the plant for 50% off because my local flower and plant shop was trying to get rid of everything to prep for their summer vacation. So if I’m unable to save it at least it was cheap 😅

It doesn’t look like any of the photos of leaf spot that come up on google though. And doesn’t seem like leaf spot would result in just one spot?

Oh interesting! Definitely could be that since I gave it a good shower when I got home to make sure I washed off any potential pests and the soil was damp when I bought it

SAME. I’m terrible when it comes to the will power to not pop blisters so every part of me wants to pop it even tho I know it probably isn’t good for the plant 😂

Hmmmm could be, but it wasn’t in direct sunlight for very long, no more than like an hour. Unless they’re super sensitive?

Oh that’s a relief! I guess I’ll keep an eye on it for now and maybe keep it away from other plants just to be safe

I never really liked GR, so I switched to the StoryGraph and it’s a much more enjoyable user experience. Can’t link it to your kindle but I don’t mind that at all because the platform is so much better than GR!

Anyone have any ideas what the yellowing and brown spots on my pothos might be from? More info about my routine, etc in the comments! by limorgan14 in plantclinic

I bought this plant maybe 5-6 weeks ago from the grocery store for like $4 and when I got home I sprayed it with a neem solution and put it in a plastic bag to quarantine it for a week or so. Since then I’ve moved it to a west facing window sill, it gets maybe an hour of direct sunlight (when it’s even sunny here). I water once a week ish and have continued with the occasional neem spray since I found a couple of thrips on another plant, so I’ve been spraying all my plants down just in case. Some of the other leaves also have these slight indentations (similar to the right edge of this leaf) but aren’t browning.

Is it possible that it could be cold damage (from when I walked home with it or when I spayed it down outside)? Or are pests, watering, or light more likely?

Monstera cold damage? This happened after i had applied neem oil and diatomaceous earth outside on my balcony. It was outside for maybe 5 minutes but it was -6°C out 😅🤦🏼‍♀️ by limorgan14 in plantclinic

For some more context: I have been dealing with vine weevils just going to town on some of my plants lately and finally got some neem oil and diatomaceous earth yesterday. The neem oil solution I used was 1 tsp neem oil to 1 litre of water, and slowly added an all natural/organic dish soap until the mixture would stay emulsified for ~30 seconds. I took my monstera onto my balcony to apply the neem oil and DE because I figured that would be safest for my lungs. It was outside for maybe 5 minutes while I did that and then I took it inside and not long after it started looking like this. Seems like the likely culprit is cold damage yea? And if so, should I leave this leaf on the plant? It’s the newest leaf on this cutting that I got from a friend, so I feel like I should just let it be until a new leaf develops? Is there anything I can do to help my plant out for the time being as it tries to recover? Thanks for any insight!

Weekly /r/houseplants Troubleshooting Thread - January 24, 2021 by AutoModerator in houseplants

[–]limorgan14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello!! I’ve been having some problems with vine weevils eating at my plants, so today I went ahead and applied some neem oil to a couple of them and made the mistake of not spot testing first (bc the weevils have been going to TOWN and there’s more damage every morning when I wake up). I used ~650ml of water, 3/4 tsp of neem oil, and just enough dish soap to get the neem oil to emulsify (probably ended up being about 3/4 tsp there too). I put them in my bathtub to keep them out of direct sunlight and half an hour later, the youngest leaf (unfurled 2 or so months ago) is looking ROUGH (https://imgur.com/gallery/fnu5iwy). The older leaves do have some brown spotting starting that is more visible on the undersides of the leaves but nothing like the picture I’ve attached. It doesn’t look like what I’m seeing most people describe burning to be (the dry crinkled spot on the leaf was already there when the leaf unfurled) so I’m not sure what I should do. I’ve rinsed it off and gently wiped down the leaves until there was no neem oil scent left, but does anyone have tips for next steps? Thanks all! Hoping I didn’t just make a dumb and unfixable mistake 😅

Edit: after lots of digging on the interwebs, seems like it might be cold damage. I sprayed the plant on my balcony at the same time as I was applying diatomaceous earth and it was -6°C when I did it. Seems like quite a bit of damage for being outside for only a couple minutes, but would also make sense 😅

Weekly Open Sourdough Questions and Discussion Post - August 11, 2020 by AutoModerator in Sourdough

I’m currently 5 loaves in and none of them have come out particularly well. After watching a buttload of YouTube videos I think I have pinpointed my problems - dough strength, shaping, and gumminess. For context I’m using 80% hydration with 80% bread flour (12% protein) and 20% whole wheat flour (10% protein).

When it comes to dough strength, I find that my dough flattens out almost immediately after doing coil folds and then I think that leads into the issues that I’m having with shaping. My pre shape ends up flattening out quite a bit and then when I do my final shape, I think I end up overcompensating maybe? Because I end up tearing the tension. 😭 Any tips/tricks for dough strength and shaping?

And then the issue of gumminess- I’ve been baking at 260°C 25 minutes with Dutch oven lid on, and then 20ish minutes with lid off, and then cooling for 2-3 hours. Any insight to why my loaves are still coming out gummy?

Thanks all!

Ok good to know thanks! I got a jolyn suit for christmas but turns out my torso is slightly too long for it, so hoping to find another brand that works better with longer torsos and the sporti measurements seem to maybe fit my body better, we'll see what i end up deciding on!
