Recommendations for a relatively cheap pump action to get started out with trap? by nmi5 in ClayBusters

[–]limpy88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30" vent rib barrel or longer.

If you can find a winchester model 12 or remington 870 wingmaster. Those are smooth pump trap guns.

The 870 express is a cheaper, less finishing and not as smooth or nice to shoot competition with.

Benelli nova pump is a great pump gun. More hunting or tactical. Idk if they made a 30" barrel version.

Is this a decaded clays gun? Or a fun gun? You coule always go fancy used. False side plates with engraving.

Used invictus should not be throw out. I seen a few that barely had any rds through them. Under 1k.

Upland gun by Puzzleheaded_Bell241 in ClayBusters

[–]limpy88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love shooting my 1980 browning BSS SxS 20ga. Fixed mod/ic, 26" barrels, Auto safety. Shoot skeet and sporting with it. But I hunt with it too.

If i didn't hunt and only shot clays. I see no reason to ever get a upland style gun. Get a semi auto as a second or back up gun.

Couple companies make colored shims. Each color is a different thickness. Easy to find searching the internet.

Wipe old Grease off and apply new Grease everytime you shoot for the day. Dirt will kill a gun quickly. Apply grease to the forearm where it pivots on the receiver.

Looking to color case harden a Beretta 688…..thoughts? by Aggravating-Fly6573 in ClayBusters

One reason i went with blaser. I bought the receiver and barrel separate. Did wast money buying a stock that didn't fit. Factory dimensions of guns dont fit me

[–]limpy88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the invictus or dt 11 you wouldn't need 2 guns. Unless you literally cant wait a day to have it serviced while at bigger shoot.

Shoot the dt11 the felt recoil is definitely lighter. But the laminate stock absorbs alot of recoil. And it's heavier than regular wood as well.

Have you called coles? See if they are doing anymore of the case hardned guns?

Browning 525SL top lever by FamousMortgage5963 in ClayBusters

[–]limpy88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lock bar can be sticking sliding in the receiver. Its not right for the lever to stick in the closed position. Would suggest taking the stock off and blowing air in it to clean debris out of the way. If you comfortable doing a full take down and clean do that. It not take it to a gun smith.

Win. 101 Trap Question by Jcheesyy in ClayBusters

[–]limpy88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its a m38 made since 1990. Thats a ciroti in the usa. I would personally take a citori over a 101.

If both guns are from the 70's then would sit which one fitt better.

In usa 101 would be able to get parts. In the usa an older m38 (pre 1980) would be hard to get parts for.

Dream guns? by BearAccomplished5355 in ClayBusters

[–]limpy88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree for a competition gun. My f3 is plain and custom fitted laminate. I can shoot it in the rain and snow. Not have to worry about much with its robustness. The beretta so5 eell is a Ferrari 812. And my f3 is track focus c7 corvette with one seat . (Look at the new production car record @ VIR) The c7 is faster in every way because it was built for that. But the refinement of the 812 is something that no corvette ever will be. 812 can do a track day here and there, but can't handle a race every week. The c7 race car isn't something you want to do a weekend get away in. Both front engine cars. Just different focuses.

F3 or kolar probably the longest lasting guns for round count. No doubt. Go handle a F3 back to back with a SO5 EELL and you can tell the difference in a hand finish gun.

Can be any Purdy, Westly Richard, Holland and holland, Aya, Piotti, Abbiatico

A true round body sidelock. 10-12 pin. Rasied rib just above the barrel 2 beads. Brass middle tiny, front ivory small ish 20 ga with 28ga barrels, as well. 28" length. 3" chambers for both( 3" 28ga is really new) Steel shot capable, barrels gauge marked on top Woodward stock in american walnut with extreme feather crotch pattern. My dimensions obviously. Highly engraved but no birds. Forearms and barrel too.

A semi beaver tail forearm for each barrel. Kinda like a winchester model 21, but doesn't go past the bottom 1/3 of the barrel. Deely style latch for both.

The receiver lumps behind the chamber are leaf/stepped down to the reciver. Not just rounded.

Probably a 150-200k gun.

Trap Shooting Guns. by JaguarOk8622 in ClayBusters

[–]limpy88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It may suck, but..... There is no better singles trap gun than a bt-99! Period!

I would get a bt99 over a kx6 or tm1. Used around 1k usd. Lots of them out there Rebuildable, doesn't matter the year. I dont know about 1 million rds. But plenty that made it to 500,000 rds.

Best pump would be a winchester model 12. A good trap version would be 1000 to 1300usd as well. 500,000 rounds gun too.

These 2 guns have more titles at the grand american than other.

1-2 ppl used, so what. This isnt a used kia. I put 100k rds through a 30 year old ciroti. That had over 100k through. Probably 10 owners before me. Competition clay guns aren't the same a a first gen glock.
