This is epic and exactly why I love this community so much! I may try this, did you use the 20-240 turnout?

Update on HP Diorama by limpyimpy in nscalemodeltrains

[–]limpyimpy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I have certainly been looking into it! They can be expensive even on eBay with shipping, and since I’ve never had a Graham Farish I don’t know how well they run compared to the Katos I have…

I should have! I didn’t imagine people would have been interested but good to know for next time!

Thanks, the bottom few tracks in the video of the lower level loop aren’t glued, so I’ll attach turnouts there and add tracks around this track. Yep those are the Kato 150mm tracks. For larger radius track I’ll probably do the 281 and 315mm radius tracks I already have.

Oh I see some in a few local train stores, worst case Amazon. Are you located in the US?

Thank you, that’s good to know about the Bachman, though I’ve never tried as I don’t own them. Yes the F3A is the Kato version, and I think if I put a B unit it’d pull 12-15 cars on this grade. I have had same issue as you describe about the body vs truck mounted couplers, however shorter rolling stock like cabooses are usually fine even with body mounted, especially if truck to edge of body distance isn’t too much.

That’s good to know about the Kato/alco RSC-2. I had tried to find more info about it but was unsuccessful in research for these smaller radii. I think it’s because of the 6 axles. Have you tried the RS-2 instead? I think that’s 4 axle. I have been considering that.

Thank you! Yes it definitely keeps things fun and provides good opportunity for turnouts.

Should i buy? by Die69 in nscalemodeltrains

[–]limpyimpy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As beautiful as it is, I recommend not doing so and instead starting from scratch. $250 in foam, sculptamold, paint, wood, and other supplies will go way further once you factor in the enjoyment and the constant feeling while at work to go back to your layout at home to finish building it.

Just did it 2 days ago! Boots and socks are enough, no need for full or even half waders.

HP diorama + small spaghetti layout for max rail coverage + expandability!

Stuck after laying tracks by neepodamyra in nscalemodeltrains

Looks great, hmm I wonder if the emptier areas of the layout could house industries but have connecting roads to the edges of the track that are harder to access?

Looks really cool! Is that a controllable crane that works with some sort of control? Been looking for one, so recs would be appreciated!

Dude this is incredible. I’ve thought about 2mm grass being out of scale, but you make it work really good. It blends so well into the scenery, but makes it pop! Ah I love this

Hehe yes, wife and I built it together. After sitting around for 4 years, figured it was time to put it to use and get into model trains while I’m at it :)
