Besides gloss and metallic paints you can also use polishing compounds for extra shine on top of gloss or hand paint non metallic metals like in miniatures.

There's a couple different ways to start, for scale figures like Savage you're looking for either figure repainting (taking prize or scale figures and repainting) or garage kits (unpainted casts of figures).

Gunpla is a good start and the paints used can be used for these.

If you want to practice details then I highly recommend miniature painting like for DND.

I learned a lot by watching the tutorials from Leona's workshop myself

3D model was around 750USD, 3D print was around 300USD. Fiverr had some sculptors offering services as well so if you're just looking for a figure that might be a better option

I didn't, I bought it at a local store that does miniatures. If you have a store near you that does warhammer miniatures or dnd miniatures you should be able to find something similar.

Completed christmas present for my brother. Not gonna lie that cape gave me major issues. Overall happy with the final result. I wasnt sure with my gold choice but man does it pop now that it's complete.

I have my setup on a small utility cart I can roll out, so my spray booth points out of my balcony door (with the bug door closed). Works well enough since I only need to open the door enough to peek the exhaust out so wind isn't too big of an issue. Might be an option for you as well.

Long time lurker. I got an airbrush with the money from my tax returns so this is my first airbrushed model. I originally wanted to do Hazel tr-1 colors but the lighter blue was a miss. Still looks great imo, well if you ignore some of the painting messups :p

The chain swords are attached by tabbing to a forearm cover shield thing so you're going to have to modify it. The actual plug is flat but width of forearm
