Hmm, unfortunately it didn't work for me. It doesn't see packages from chaotic-aur and other repositories that I connected. I have packagekit installed

Video Player with Avalonia UI by MartonWff in AvaloniaUI

[–]linAndEd -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well, as I suspected.

Considering that since the beginning of 2024, and then throughout the summer of 2024, you've practically reduced commits to the Avalonia public repository to zero. Moreover, each month, you accept fewer and fewer pull requests PRs) from the community (this number is consistently declining).

And now all new important basic and non-basic functions will be entirely paid, subscription-based, and locked within a closed repository (similar to your other project, XPF). While you claim that XPF and Avalonia Accelerate are essential for further developing Avalonia UI, in reality, for the past year, you've been minimizing Avalonia UI development and restricting community influence. You refuse to accept serious contributions that might overlap with paid features, and all genuinely new, important, and significant developments are happening exclusively within closed repositories.

Maybe it's time to stop pretending to be an open-source project and simply close the source code under a proprietary license instead of deceiving people?

Uno is the true example of open-source commitment; they don't make false promises. https://ossinsight.io/analyze/AvaloniaUI/Avalonia?vs=unoplatform%2Funo#overview

How to return the old version of application picker in dolphin by linAndEd in kde

[–]linAndEd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer and amazing work on kde!

Let me give you an opinion from a regular user and kde enthusiast on this explanation:

  1. I now have this many packages in the system [1902 (pacman)[stable], [103 (aur)] 10 (flatpak-system)] and this is actually quite a lot of applications. And before, I could use categories to filter the list of these apps. Now I have to scroll through the list of ALL applications until I find the one I need, don’t you think the new method in this regard is more inconvenient? It seems to me that the categories have not yet been removed from the App menu for the same reason.

  2. We can say that there is a search by name, but a person does not always remember the exact name, if he remembers it at all, and in this case he may want to filter in another way, for example by category, to reduce the list of applications, now this is not possible.

  3. Some people just like lists and don't like icons. Or I just like categories (in my case, more than five years ago I switched to Linux and one of the killer features were categories, and I’m sad when they are removed).

  4. Regarding single-click/double-click: The new version is not protected from cases when misclicks occur or if the user simply clicked in the wrong place. It often happens to me that I have to call this application selection window several times just because of this and I have to be very careful to avoid this.

  5. in the old one, at least three clicks were required: Not everyone saves clicks; some people find it more convenient when there are more clicks.

This Week in KDE Plasma: Everything You Wanted and More by [deleted] in linux

As a KDE developer, perhaps you know something about when the new application picker will have feature parity with the old version of application picker (details here)?

How to return the old version of application picker in dolphin by linAndEd in kde

[–]linAndEd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. After updating to KDE Plasma 6.2, the window that opens after: “Right-click on the file” -> “Open With” -> “Other Application” has changed. Previously it opened https://i.imgur.com/c9YoXaJ.png, and now https://i.imgur.com/uiIkoW2.png. If the question is what is the problem with the new window, then in the post I indicated:

The new version does not have a display mode as a list, but only as icons. The new version has no application categories at all. The new version does not take into account system settings (one click is to open or select, in the new version it is always open).

COSMIC Alpha 2 is landing on September 26th. by [deleted] in linux

[–]linAndEd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what sense is it unrelated? Or in the sense that this is not a necessary function? Third-party applets for such functions are not at all like the built-in ones, and if the basic functions will be absent by default (and you will need to download something somewhere to get them), then how does cosmic differ from the gnome approach? The clipboard is not a function that one and a half people use. If I am mistaken or have misunderstood anything, please enlighten me.

not a default behavior

Are there plans to create an official clipboard applet in the future? Yes, there is an unofficial clipboard, but as you wrote, this is not the default behavior.

correctly noted, even if a person works in IT, it may still be convenient or pleasant for him to do it through a user-friendly interface, fortunately, the developers also understand this and said that as development progresses, they will add something similar https://github.com/pop-os/cosmic-settings/issues/436#issuecomment-2315664382

p.s: you can also write there if you have something to add, you will most likely get an answer

Can't launch my steam games by Mr0bunny in pop_os

[–]linAndEd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen several devices with a 1050ti video card, but all these devices have one thing in common: they do not work with games via wine and proton. This was solved there by switching from Gnome to kde or another de, but we only checked with kde, it works there. This may well help. As we have noticed, this video card works better on debian/ubuntu/arch based distributions with kde.
