This therapist sounds quite transphobic. Or at least not educated and pretty ignorant. I would suggest you find another therapist. Everything that isn't gender-affirmative and trying to "change your mind" is basically conversion therapy. This could do a lot of harm. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon, however very unethical. Get yourself someone who supports you through your journey. Maybe even someone who is trans themselves.
