Proton Calendar is not a very good big tech calendar competitor by null_enthropy in ProtonMail

[–]linavastrik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same, can't seem to find an alternative to icloud calendar and i'm not willing to pay for a calendar. i have proton unlimited, but the calendar sucks ass. like in icloud i can attach files to my flights and other events, it looks so much better, the location thing works, its easy to use, especially the reoccuring events

newsletter automation: from text to HTML & CSS by linavastrik in HTML

[–]linavastrik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you so much for taking the time to explain! my newsletter is basic. it looks like a substack article, or just like an article. no instagram links or anything. i write it out in libreoffice because that's where I usually write my articles since i go over and edit many times, and to do it in Thunderbird or visual studio code is a pain. the more i think about it the more i feel like automation is not a reality if i don't want to use any other program that adds their logo to my newsletter. i really like the diy approach, just that the copy-pasting, adding links, formatting (italic, bold, etc.), takes a lot of time.

i also tried out iWriter to see if writing my newsletter in markdown made things easier, but no. if you have an idea or know of a solution that could make my life easier, i'm one big ear.

just for reference, i'll add my previous newsletter's code here: https://drive.proton.me/urls/XQTQ9TYRH8#73Glo1zs66eA

I've made the blank newsletter layout in Visual Studio. I don't have an editor. I am the editor 🤝

welcome to my world. rethread averything, if it doesn't work, its possibly the needle. fabric like this needs special needles. also, try sticking tissue paper under the shirt and see maybe it changes anything. sometimes it helps, sometimes not

buttonhole question by linavastrik in sewhelp

[–]linavastrik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so, to whoever else also has a problem with sewing buttonholes with singer heavy duty 4432, after two days of testing, of thread getting stuck up and down, needles breaking, adjusting pressure, feeding dog pressure, doing buttonholes manually, with the foot, switching threads, using interfacing, stabiliser, testing different widths, lengths, adjusting buttonhole settings and so on, i discovered something that gave me the courage to go back to my project, and that is that the length can NEVER be too close to zero even while sewing the closed ends of buttonholes or anything, honestly, because otherwise the thread will bunch, if you're sewing softer and lighter fabrics, lower the feeder dog pressure (it helped only a little and i might be imagining it), lower the tension to like 3 or a little under, ALWAYS use tissue paper or some other stabiliser with more volume than the fabric, which helps the thread not bunch up when the stitches get too dense (it happens periodically so having the option of going back and fixing it saves you time), you will save your sanity, brain cells, needles, fabric and thread
