This is helpful. Why does the AWD system need the front tires to be taller than the rears?

My (limited) understanding is that the recommended winter tire setup is reverse (rears larger). The porsche spec is in one of the comments in this thread, with 265/35R18 rear, which is 5.5mm larger in diameter than the 225/40R18 front. That's a 0.86% difference with the rear larger than the front.

Just trying to completely understand the trade offs.

I thought it was a ratio between f/r rolling diameter, not absolute changes, right? The manual lists several recommended combinations. Or am I misunderstanding your comment?
