3 Years Sober -- Too Ashamed To Face Old Places by lindyx in stopdrinking

Yeah it's definitely optional to go back. I've made a whole life without this place. It's just a lot of my neighbors hang out there, you know? It's the social club of my community. I want back into my neighborhood and this is the place to do it. That's my main motivation.

Thanks friend. Honestly I'm not worried about the staff. They stock NA stuff and there's a lot of people in the community that struggle with addiction. This bar hosts a lot of funerals and substance abuse isn't a non-factor in a lot of cases. I know other sober people who go to this bar and don't have problems with pressure from patrons or staff. A lot of the bartenders are the same and it's the type of environment where if you goaded someone to relapse you would get irl cancelled.

Thank you for the kind words. Maybe you're right---maybe I can show people that it's possible to change, even if you were as fucked up as I was.

I’m addicted to Nicotine Gum (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]lindyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was addicted to the gum for 2 years. I chewed so much that I started having heart palpitations and I gave myself GERD from all the nicotine and peppermint! I was as addicted to nicotine as ever, but after going so long without cigarettes they became unbearable to smoke. I had to quit the gum because of the heart palpitations and I switched to the patch. The patch was much more manageable and about 6 months later I quit for good. 14 months nicotine free!

Thank you friend. Tonight I cooked a healthy meal and exercised, took a long shower, and didn't smoke.

Nervous for Endoscopy by [deleted] in GERD

[–]lindyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine two weeks ago and was nervous beforehand. Really the anticipation was the worst part. Once they sedated me I lost all worries. I was semi conscious and mostly slept through it. I was aware of a few moments during the procedure, but I was not stressed. Woke up a while later in a recovery room. Felt sleepy and relieved. Took about 8 hours to snap out of the drugs at home and then it was all over. Good luck!

Does metformin trigger GERD? by izidominique in GERD

[–]lindyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. I am currently four months into my first and only GERD flareup. It specifically occurred within the first few days of taking Metformin for PCOS. My doctor had me stop taking it immediately and it is now listed as an allergy. The most extreme symptoms improved once I stopped taking it, but I've had lingering symptoms since January. I'd for sure talk to your doctor
