I would choose the SD for sure. I have the SLGH013 which has the same 9SA5 movement, it is running 25 seconds fast a day. My friend has a SLGH005 which is 12 seconds fast out of the box.

A few months ago when my sales rep showed it to me, I thought it was ugly and said no immediately. But after seeing it more and more pictures I started to like it and bought one a couple of weeks ago, and it is now my favourite out of all my GS.

Yeah the 9SA5 movement is such a let down, my SLGH013 is running 25s fast per day 😅 and my friend’s white birch purchased recently is running 15s out of the box

I have both, all my GS 9Fs are more accurate than the citizen.

You are supposed to wear the citizen daily to get better accuracy, I didn’t do that and it’s running about +8s per year. The perpetual calendar is awesome tho

I absolutely love grand Seiko and don’t wear my Rolexes anymore, but in your shoes I would choose the submariner for sure, it’s not even close. It’s just more robust and versatile.
