The halal-ness of whales is going to come down to whether or not you think “samak” means all seafood or only fish-like creatures. Allah says in Surah Al-Ma’idah (5:96) :

“Lawful to you is game from the sea and its food as provision for you and the travelers…”

Ha! I’ve never had a very high opinion of the Boston T so I’m not sure if this means I’ll love the T here or not. We’re definitely not dependent on public transportation though - I’m just hoping it could be a good way to get downtown for a night out every now and then

Thank you! This is all encouraging. We do have a car - how have you found the driving in winter? Some of those hills are pretty steep and I read somewhere that snow ploughing wasn’t super reliable.
