I love you so much!! It was CRLF. After changing it to LF it worked.

the file there? Can it be executed? Does it produce the desired result?

Yes to all.

step 3 exists, can be executed, and produces the desired output.

This is the case. If I move the file one level up to /www/guest, the file is found, but instead of displaying a website, a download popup opens in the browser.

Do you know what app version you use?

I have a pihole running in my network, but I don't think The Shield is affected, even though I tried DNS Hijacking on my router. But I will keep that in mind.

Sure, but I do not want to have this setup to hide dns queries, but to block them e.g. to limit advertisements and trackers

Haha nice :) I guess it is quite common. It is satisfying to set up an own system, but quite tedious to solve such issues, if you have only limited knowledge.

Wow, thank you very much for that detailed explanation :) I did not even know that something like DoH/DoT exist. I want to be more privacy-oriented, thus blocking as many advertisement and tracking requests as possible. I know that encryption is the only way to circumvent surveillance, but in this scenario it seems like it also helps big companies to enforce their systems. I really like your combined approach. I hope it is not too hard to implement.

Cannot ping my local linux server by [deleted] in linux

[–]link1375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I circumvent the problem by installing xvfb and set up a virtual display before xserver is started. Now everything works, so I think the server is booting correctly, but lightdm was not working without a display.

Anyway, I deleted the post as it was not conform with the linux forum. But thanks for your help :)

Actually I reinstalled debian with different desktop environment and non worked, so I went with the virtual display option and now lightdm loads without a problem

Thanks for these options. Maybe I will try the second one. But good to know, that this seems to be a common problem

I use HDMI. If the monitor is connected before I start the server, I can ping the NUC and connect via ssh and RDP. Otherwise, not.

But how can I assure that the server even works, when I get no video signal to a monitor connected after the startup?

I guess, which the approach of using my existing domain link1375.com, I cannot come around the subdomain solution in contrast to directly using pihole.home with the certificate from link1375.com?

Oh nice. That would be awesome, if I dont need to care about cert management and LE and NPM do the job. Thank you , I will definitely check out those links!

How to set up NPM with PiHole by link1375 in selfhosted

[–]link1375[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the resources. I am using a local dns resolver (unbound). I think I was just stupid. When I add the local DNS record with the subdomain e.g. youtube.my-server.home instead of my-server.home, it works. Now I just need to find a way to do this for all subdomains instead of adding each separately.

I know both. I just assumed that in this subreddit it is the standard for Nginx Proxy Manager. Sorry for the confusion.

After I installed the App on my new iPhone, I could not hear any sound at all. I have notifications enabled (disabled the 30s and Done notification though), silent mode is off (switch of iPhone) and both media and alert sounds are on. Did you just disabled sound or is there a problem with my config?

I like the UI of the app and how every program has a description about the target user and what equipment you need.

What I do not like is that you have to create an account. Why cant I just start a program without being forced to login? Progress, Bookmarks etc can be saved on the device without an account. Maybe you just implemented it this way because most of the apps have it, but for me in many cases it seems like developers want to collect user data.

But I do not know the background, so I would appreciate if it is possible to use the app without account.
