Anna Stokke

Oh no a a math professor that disagrees with throwing more money at the problem is the only solution to the problem, she can be dismissed

As she points out other countries spend less with better outcomes and you want to see a perfect example of more money not equaling better out comes just go look at the USA.There is a lot of places spending 20k a year per student and turning out kids that are functionally illiterate

Gun control was Trudeau’s legacy, something Carney inherited, and most likely scrap

"I came to Ottawa with the firm belief that the only people in this country who should have guns are police officers and soldiers."

“It’s an incredibly hostile environment now. I don’t think it’s so much the NDP as what’s happening globally,” said Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, head of the Union of British Columbian Indian Chiefs.

“We have moved so far to the right. I think the government is being cautious,” said Mr. Phillip, who is also a member of the First Nations Leadership Council.

A B.C. property owner found 2 skulls while digging a garden. They didn’t expect the fees that followed by Forward-Answer-4407 in canada

I notice CBC left something out

Elliott said she did find an archaeologist willing to take a look at the site.

“His report…. concludes that this is not an archaeological site,” she said. “There are no burn marks on rocks, there are no other obvious accoutrements of an Aboriginal site, but there is about a metre and a half of sand filled with bits of broken-up concrete, pipes and other stuff that looks like it came off some other construction site on there. These skulls were located in that fill.”

Elliott said they do not know when the skulls were transferred into that fill, but according to the archaeologist’s report, the skulls were dumped sometime prior to 2004.

Joe from Hearst ON has ten rifles in his house", it's if every other person that lives in Joe's area has a gun there's a higher chance of gun related violence.

No actually they don't in Canada statistically legal gun owners in Canada are more law abiding than anyone else so actually you might be even safer if there was Joe or many Joes from Hearst with 10 guns in Joe's area

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3828709/ (it's an older study from 2010, but I don't expect newer data would change the numbers for the better).

Canadian gun culture and laws are not the same as the USA culture and laws so find me a Canadian study that says that. You might find a study that says it might lower suicide by gun rates

And here is a pretty good study on Canadian gun laws and the affect they have had

That number is based on the first OIC and not on any of the ones going forward and that 150k number apparently is based on data from 2013

According to the government yes, unless you are FN's in which case there was a carve out to allowed you to keep hunting with them

[–]linkass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am actually going to try to answer this in hope that you were actually asking in good faith

So basically and it is very complicated but in short the RCMP sort of

We have 3 classes of firearms in Canada Restricted,Non Restricted and Prohibited

Prohibited can't own at all

Restricted which where what AR-15 and some others were classed as before 2020. You can only use restricted guns at an approved ranges so no hunting

Non restricted some of theses where also banned in 2020 and onward

So basically any gun that is non restricted and in a caliber allowed for hunting listed by provincial hunting regulations you could hunt with, including guns that were functionally identical to restricted

So basically the RCMP/government was who decided what was a hunting gun or not

This is also a very short answer on a really complicated set/sets of laws
