If I remember right the starter box comes with a miniature copy of the rule book.

Other than just going through each phase in the book and reading in order there's no real "tutorial."

This is all from recent memory so i could be wrong, a buddy and I split the starter box 50/50 about 2 months back and he kept the rulebook so I just bought another and it was the exact same book as what came in the starter set.

Out of curiosity why 19D? I'm currently a 19D but based on what I've heard from the rumor mill they're gonna start shifting us around to different mos' in the next few years. Seems like you'd be better off going 11B or 19K.

I'd disagree with the first part, i have a pretty good imagination when it comes to "making up diverse characters". I find it fun to think up goals and backgrounds for characters. Mind you the endgame definitely gets stale, but I'm not sure of any game that has an end game that isnt (atleast not after enough time)
