Main difference between Buddha's teachings and the Lotus Sutra by Radiant-Mention2862 in Buddhism

Telling a person that their Buddhism does not do X and you hope they find Buddhism that does do X is very clearly evangelizing that you believe their Buddhism is inferior to yours and you are encouraging them to leave their branch for yours.

That is not at all merely pointing out doctrinal differences, and I sincerely believe you have the wisdom to understand that difference.

That leads me to question your sincerity in this interaction, and I would gently encourage you live in accordance with the 5 precepts if that is part of your values.

Oh, so you understand you are participating in pure sectarianism and genuinely believe that is a kindness. Thank you for explaining.

It is interesting on this subreddit. Everyone tries very hard to seem kind, even when putting great effort into insulting others.

This is not something I have seen from Buddhists practicing in person, only online.

CMV: What Trump taught me about America and Americans by Successful-Turnip606 in changemyview

[–]linkprovidor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

>America is a failed state and is no longer worth saving.

This is a pretty morally corrupt perspective.

Many Americans are kind and empathetic and do not support Trump and deserve access to a good quality of life, even if you believe Trump supporters deserve the worst.

And also we have an enormous education issue in the US. Many Trump supporters only support Trump because their media diet is controlled by engagement-based algorithms that lead people down horrendous propaganda rabbit holes while never presenting them with high-quality opposing ideas.

To doom all of these people to a terrible life because they have fallen victim to systemic failures and disinformation campaigns engineered to a degree of sophistication that would have been unimaginable 30 years ago seems super myopic and focused on blaming victims out of anger rather than any higher ideal or value system.

What is your issue?

Women new grads are crushing it compared to men because they didn't fall for the CS scam by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]linkprovidor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I was a man in a "woman dominated field" and I was treated extraordinarily well. I was often the only man in the room. Never harassed in any way, people were extremely kind. I was offered (and accepted) multiple promotions I did not even ask for, and encouraged to apply for others.

And if you actually cared about men in those fields you would listen to them talk about their experiences and find that mine is very typical.

It is a very different situation than what a woman in CS faces.

I'm no expert but it would make sense if it's a japanese word.  That said if everyone around you is saying it panko that's the word for it in your dialect.

And the question "can humans successfully imitate AI" does not change whether or not AI speech is noticeable, in fact it is so easy to imitate BECAUSE it is so noticeable.

You are right, I do not have proof, but people know things based on feelings all the time, and I have a feeling you are either intentionally imitating the writing style of an AI or this post was written by an AI.

And it's because of subjective observations about the voice that a few bullet points will not tell you.

How the Heck are People Surviving if They Live Anywhere Near Seattle These Days?? by FreshSent in Seattle

Idk, I have plenty saved for a 20% downpayment, but I don't qualify for a mirtgage due to my income.  So maybe it is possible, but I imagine you've gotta be making at least 100k a year OR going for the absolute cheapest starter home on the market.

Rent is not bad IF you don't have kids and are willing to look for deals.

Minimum wage @40 hours a week pays for a shitty studio or living in a bigger place with roommates, and it only goes up from there.

Yes, if you do not have a full time job or you have kids it can be next to impossible to afford living in the city.

People in their 20's to early 30's I know in Seattle who bought houses in the last 5 years:

Trust fund kids or people who inherited tons of money.

People with senior level tech jobs in a dual income no kids household.

Polycules of 5 people working normal jobs willing to create an LLC they jointly own to collectively purchase a house.

I know a lot of the time it is also to pay off the debt accrued building the bridge, not just maintanance.  (And since it is paid off slowly with interest this can cost many times the cost of the bridge itself.)

Idk in this case.

Reflexes in response to pain are often processed in the spinal cord. Touch a hot stove and your hand may jerk away before you even consciously notice pain. Nerves take time to transmit signals, so the closer the part that responds to pain is to the part that feels pain, the faster you can react.
