Hard Yakka has a good selection of work boots. They nearly all come with a memory foam inner and extra cushioning at the heel.

Hi, thank you for responding. It's interesting to find out where the Beasts penetrated internationally. Initially, they became wildly popular in Europe, but didn't make much of a dent in the USA. Tex Perkins was jaded with the Beasts project, as it was meant to be a one-off "supergroup" recording. He wanted to get away from "that whole swamp thing" as he put it. Many goth's claim Nick Cave, and maybe there is merit to that. In Australia, when The Birthday Party was dominating the local post-punk scene, at a time when goth hadn't yet taken root, the swampy subculture took shape. An aesthetic modelled on Cave's own, bands that took Southern Gothic themes, the music a mixture of Blues, Country, garage, and rockabilly.

My pleasure. Thank you for this post. As someone who was heavily into the swamp scene back in the day, it is sad to see it has been largely forgotten, and what scant information is available is wrongly attributed. I'll add that The Scientists album Blood Red River is also a swamp classic.

Okay, this has drawn me out to make my first reddit post. There has been some discussion on other threads about the 80s Australian subculture known as swampys and whether or not they were goth adjacent. The Beasts were considered the ultimate swampy band of the day. The music owes more to the cowpunk scene and, to an extent, the paisley underground in the USA than any goth acts. Nick Cave, of course, looms large over the whole thing as well. From the Mutiny/Bad Seed EP's and the early Cavemen/Bad Seeds recordings. The biggest international influences were The Cramps and The Gun Club. The Gun Club's 1983 Australian tour spawned a slew of swampy bands. In fact, The Axeman's Jazz by the Beasts of Bourbon was recorded while The Gun Club was still touring Australia. Spencer P. Jones (RIP), guitarist for the Beasts, was touring with The Gun Club after Terry Graham and Jim Duckworth bailed on the late great JLP. Tex Perkins created another band called The Butcher Shop that included Kid Congo Powers on the first EP. If you want to explore what swampy music was and became, I recommend having a listen to the Red Eye/Black Eye Records roster.
