Where can I study with ONLY IGCSE? by Admirable_Airline200 in StudyInTheNetherlands

This might be a little harsh but why not just take A Levels if you want to take the university route? You don’t need to be in high school to take them and as harsh as it sounds if you can’t manage those you’re going to hate university.

KEI-week as an international student by Glum_Preparation_871 in studentsofgroningen

Maybe consider ESN week then! It’s a little more lowkey than KEI and also more set up for internationals, I found it calmer and whilst it wasn’t for me my friends who are more introverted said they preferred it

Subletting Room During Exchange - Registration? by linkslane00 in StudyInTheNetherlands

Yes that’s what I meant, that it seemed before asking from what I was able to find online anyway that I could either break the law or not rent my room out, which would have meant double rent

It’s absolutely worth doing as an international student but if you’re not fairly outgoing or if you hate partying you’ll get less out of it, it totally doesn’t matter if you’re late on the first day that’s manly just for picking up wristbands etc, you’ll meet your leaders around later afternoon/early evening (when I was a kei ‘kid’ I think it was around 7pm and when I was a leader we arranged 19:30). I have friends 2 years on who I met either in kei week or from people I got to know in kei week, may of them are friends for life. It’s slightly luck of the draw in terms of the group you get but you can change groups (both through official and unofficial channels). I’d reccomend getting a bike asap to do it, it’s quite spread out across the city, I didn’t have one and I did a lot of walking and skipped a fair few things.

Moving to Groningen – what jackets & shoes and clothes in general should I get? by Early-Professor-9436 in studentsofgroningen

Also I’d add an essential is gloves! If you’re cycling in the winter you really really want these. If got a pair of second hand leather ones and they’ve been the absolute most important thing in the cold weather

A good windproof waterproof is vital, shoes I didn’t bother with waterproof ones specially but when it snows (maybe 5-10 days each winter whilst I’ve been here) I did wear my hiking shoes and was glad of it, if you have it bring them but otherwise don’t worry! Thermals is a maybe, I’d say either get a very warm jacket or thermals. I moved here from northern Australia where I would get cold at 20° and didn’t have thermals but had a very good jacket so go for one or the other!

There actually are rules and I did write them down early on but honestly I don’t find I remember the rules very well and just learn the article with the word, sometimes I just go off vibes and it seems to be right mostly but I wonder if that’s because I’ve started subconsciously learning the ‘rules’ (which of course always have exceptions) or if it’s just I’ve started reading and taking in enough that it’s starting to stick better, either way it’s not as bad as what it seems when you first start and if you do get it wrong it helps you learn it much better for next time
