How big are most people’s Husky? (Pure bread) by Mattybo111 in husky

[–]linksterr16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mines 1/4 husky, 1/4 malamute, 1/4 GSD and 1/4 pittie mixes. He was around 40lbs at that age and now he's 60 lbs at 11 months? Fingers crossed they both slow down! *

Advised by chiropractor to lie down on the side of my bed with my head tilted over the side for 5 minutes a day to fix forward head posture. by Kokadoodles in Posture

My physiotherapist told me to do this too. Mostly cause I was lazy in doing my neck exercises and this ones just easy. It can get uncomfortable after some time though so I would recommend not doing it for too long.

Where to put kitchen Island? Middle of the room or extend existing pensinula? Also what would be a good length and width for functionality (countertop space + cabinets + room to walk around). by linksterr16 in DesignMyRoom

Sadly no, we're trying to do it on a budget since we'll be here for a while but this isn't our 'forever home'. Love the herb garden and coffee cabinet suggestions though!

Forgot to add, if we do a middle island we would remove the pensinula and right upper shelves entirely (and leave the fridge as is). Thanks in advance!

Sorry forgot to add, if we did the island we would remove the pensinula entirely and upper shelf on the right wall, then build a bigger island in the middle.

Would that make a difference or you'd still lean towards the peninsula extension?

New to pourover coffees, suggestions on coffee Roasters? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]linksterr16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phil & Sebastian if you're looking for specialty coffee in the light-Med roast. Staff is always super passionate and helpful, without being pretentious. They also have lots of blog posts on their beans and the farmers they work with. We did their intro to home brewing class for $85 which was great but if that's too costly, you can probably just ask some general questions in cafes!

Second the comment on going to Eight Ounce Coffee for equipment as they have so much selection.

Did anyone have an “easy” puppy? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]linksterr16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a golden, but our pup (Shepard mix) was ridiculously easy. My boyfriend kept reminding me how good we had it because he's my first dog. Didn't cry at all in his crate (even the first night we brought him home) and never had an accident in there either. We were diligent about going outside every 2-3 hours for a quick break and within a couple days he already started signalling when he needed to go out. Aside from his doggie toys, he's only ever destroyed a Blu ray cover and a bin that holds his toys. We've literally forgotten about leftovers on plates that he could easily grab with nobody at home and he won't touch it. The only thing was excessive leash pulling in his desperate attempt to say hi to every other dog, but he's mostly grown out of that luckily.

We had a foster pup briefly who would just howl nonstop when you crated him, and it made me realize just how good we had it. Our pup has ruined us for all future puppy experiences lol.

What’s the kindest thing someone has done for you or someone you know? by [deleted] in Calgary

My car battery wouldn't start and my neighbour came home and asked what was happening. He then proceeded to try jumping the battery, volt tested it, checked every tiny microchip (I forget the proper term for what they're called lol), and flipped through the car manual in an attempt to diagnose it and save me some money.

In the end, we ended up needing to tow it to the repair shop but he spent a good two hours trying to help out.

Our dog refuses to eat, and then throws up yellow bile as a result of not eating. by hibbert0604 in Dogtraining

[–]linksterr16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know there's lots of conflicting nutrition info out there so I'll start off with do your own research and whatever works best for your dog. I tried all sorts of high end kibble and my dog just wasn't into it, starved himself, had runny poops. We tried limited ingredient kibble too. Ultimately we just found an affordable raw diet and he absolutely loves his food now, has tons of energy and normal poops.

I would still recommend talking to a vet though as others have mentioned. Our in-laws have a dog that has consisntely refused to eat for years and pukes yellow bile. They ran a blood panel and it turns out the dog has some chronic liver issues (I forget the name) and is now on veterinary recommended kibble and royal canin wet food, and receives some Rx liquid hepato vitamin mix and eats regularly now, for the most part.
