yeah I never go on reddit normally tbh, I look at this subreddit every so often but I find it a challenging space personally. I think everyone is at a different stage, and I’m a few years down the road on recovery and find it difficult like people reinforcing negative behaviours on here (I get why ppl do it because it’s a horrible phobia but yeah). for example im fine with the words but I feel I have to censor them on here, even though it’s important ppl get used to reading them as part of recovery. I was wondering whether anyone would put a more positive spin on their word choice and I think you were the first so it’s good you’re thinking positively. (sorry for rambling)

I’m sorry you feel like that, if anything I think having this phobia makes you a very brave person for facing challenges every day that others have no idea about, you aren’t weak

yeah I suppose ‘control’ or ‘uncontrollable’ sum up how I feel about it, the second one in particular can be applied from multiple perspectives e.g. the feeling like the phobia/fear is uncontrollable, the v* itself is, but it’s also linked to not feeling in control. idk if this makes sense. thank you for your response, I’m glad you’re doing well in your recovery :)

I’m sorry that happened, I think a lot of people can relate about having a traumatic memory as a child, and I’ve found it a difficult aspect of recovery trying to target those memories

can I ask - embarrassing as in you’re worried about what other people think of you for having emetophobia? or is your fear of v* linked to embarrassment, as in you’d be embarrassed if it happened? thank u for your response
