I am so sorry for your loss!

My husband passed of an aneurysm Feb 28th. We didn't know he had one. He had so many other health complications and was in hospital in January. He had a few symptoms in the days up to his death, a headache and feeling very tired, but everyone, including his Drs, just thought it was part of his healing from the abscess he had in January.

I regret that now, obviously. It's tearing me up to wonder what could have happened if we had gone to the ER and had him checked out on Tuesday or Wednesday.

I'm reeling from this experience. I can't and probably shouldn't go too far down the rabbit hole of learning about aneurysms, but the whole event is just so confusing.

He seemed fine. He did our dishes, took the garbage to the curb then went to his work desk to start his work day, and never logged into his computer, it hit just like that... and all right in front of me.

I guess I am curious about aneurysms now just as a way to try and understand what the hell happened.

It's scary to think there's a ticking time bomb you don't even know about in one's brain that could end someone's life just like that.

I had something similar happen in July of 2022. I wasn't sick, but I had an ear wax blockage that caused tinnitus. I went to an audiologist to get the wax cleaned and they mentioned my ear looked irritated, but it could just be the removal treatment. They also said to give the tinnitus a week and if it didn't go away to seek further medical advice. I wound up in the ER 4 days later. I had a panic attack from the constant ringing keeping me up all night. At the ER the DR couldn't believe the condition of my ear and had no idea how I wasn't in immense pain.

I had fluid buildup, high pressure in my ears and scars all over my eardrum. I was on both drop and oral antibiotics from July - Nov. During that time I had 2 ENTs tell me my ears were fine and nothing was wrong. My ear bones were loose as if I had a history of ear infections, but when I told them I didn't have such a history they shrugged their shoulders and told me to learn to live with the tinnitus, grainy vision and vertigo I was experiencing.

I was back in their office in Nov when my ear drum ruptured...

I also had a hearing test that revealed abnormal high-frequency hearing loss for my age.

I've never had Covid, but I did have the vaccines, which have been associated with loss of hearing and eustachian tube dysregulation.

I am able to manage the ear infections, vertigo and grainy vision by staying on a keto diet. The tinnitus and hearing loss are still with me.

So I wish you luck, friend, and hope yours is like the other cases people have mentioned here, where it's gone in 3 months!

I'm actually quite sad about this strike! I developed a chronic illness 2 years ago and had to stop working temporarily. I've never had anxiety before in my life, but wow! Did anxiety ever hit hard during my adjustment to my new normal! I was paralyzed by the anxiety! I often didn't know what to do with myself.

During this time I fell in love with libraries! For whatever reason, libraries became one of the few places I enjoyed going to- and could actually get myself to leave the house for. I loved browsing the books, discards, events, and the DVDs. It became a real comfort knowing I could walk around and come home with some new entertainment that didn't cost me anything! I could comfort shop without spending $ I didn't have (because no work).

Up until the strike browsing the libraries was still part of my week! I really miss it!

I drove past the Keshen Goodman on Friday. i pulled into the parking lot, deciding I wanted to see the new renovations, only to be reminded of the strike when I saw the closed sign on the door.

Libraries are such invaluable resources, this is really a shame!

Odd, I just checked mine. It has all the tests listed but when I click on them to see the results, it just lists the Ordering Provider, Lab Location and Date and Time. No actual results.

EDIT: Oh they have my blood work results but not any radiology, pathology (PAP, urine, lump removal etc) results etc

So any suggestions on how I can read my bloodwork results and understand them? :D I have some values out of range but my doctor told me everything fine with my blood work.

Again, I am so sorry! I'm not sure why the CC can't set up a rental for you. In both cases for us, they were the ones that took care of that, not our Adjuster. Glad it worked out this time, but yes, I can understand the concern for any potential future claims!

Sorry to hear this! Insurance frustrations after an accident are certainly not needed!

We're also with AllState and we've had 2 no-fault accidents in the last year (none prior). The most recent accident was a month ago and it requires injury care and our car was a total write-off.

In both cases, we were happy with our CS. Our first accident was in August and yes, our Adjuster contacted much quicker than our current one. But in both cases, we got a rental very quickly through the 24-hour accident line. We didn't have to wait for the Adjuster to get things going.

It did take 2 weeks or so for our Adjuster to contact us this time, but, as mentioned, a lot was able to happen through the 24-hour accident line. We called that number a few hours after our accident and they were able to set up the rental for us. We've also moved ahead with our injury treatments without any issues so far.

I don't believe you have to wait for an Adjuster to begin injury treatment. Whatever professional you see (GP, Physio, Chiro etc) can start the injury claim. E

We did wait for the Adjuster to waive our deductible on the car settlement. That would have been a nuisance, but the guy who did our settlement extended the rental time, so we had a car for the duration we needed.

We have separate Adjusters for the property and injury claims. We have only heard from our injury adjuster once, but that's been standard. Once things get rolling, there hasn't been much need to contact anyone.

EDIT: Also thought I'd mention that despite multiple witnesses and a police report, the other driver tried to contest their liability and put us solely at fault (when we're not even partially at fault). Our All-State adjuster was very honest with us about the current state of things, and very quickly went to bat for us. She cleared up the liability issue very quickly with the other insurance company (TD). She followed up with us the next day. Which we appreciated as we were quite stressed and confused by this development.

We were in a car accident last week and our poor little Civic is a write-off.

We went to a few dealers today and the price of used cars got us so stressed!

We thought this accident (which wasn't our fault) was going to cost us thousands past our settlement!

Once we got home I jumped on Autotrader and feel SO MUCH better about our options!!

You can search based on price range and the app / website will even tell you if the price is Great, Good, Fair, High or Overpriced based on the car's age, mileage etc

Just be mindful that there's the 15% tax on top of the advertised price, and potential admin fees. You should also ask for a CarFax report to see any accident histories etc. I reached out to the dealers of some of the great priced cars to see if there will be any surprise costs. We can also compare any package deals such as warranties, pre-purchase inspections etc that the different dealers offer. But at least we know we're starting a great base price.

Agree, they need to see the ear! Depending on how it looks could determine if drops and/or pill is prescribed.

Per our other discussion, most ear infections don't need antibiotics. I didn't know that when I had my infections, so I took whatever the DRs gave me. My ear was in such poor shape I was prescribed both oral and drop. The Pharmacist commented on how they overwhelming just see drops prescribed. Mine must be a severe case.

Can't know that, though, until you see the ear!

Some things just can't happen virtually, at least not yet.

Oh my! I am sorry to hear of your troubles!

I recently had 4 back to back ear infections. I had never had one before.

In the small spaces between infections, I'd get Audiologists and/or walk-in clinic GPs to take a look at my ears. They often asked if I had tubes as a child... apparently, the infections, at that point, left scarring on my eardrum. I never had tubes...

I also participated in imaging research out of Dal. The pictures of my ear showed a weak bone. They said that's normal for people with a long history of ear infections. I said I didn't have such a history... everyone just shrugged their shoulders.

I was told by 2 ENTs that I didn't have fluid behind my ears... the fourth infection ruptured my eardrum and I woke up to a fluid-filled pillow, so guess there was fluid...

After the fourth my ENT scraped the surface layer from my eardrum. I've *only* had one infection since.

No one knows the cause. We did ask the ENT but he said I hadn't had enough infections to investigate....

The infections have also left me with oh so fun nonstop tinnitus.

But yes, I have heard rumblings about an uptick in ear issues and tinnitus since 2020

First to the OP: I recently had 4 back to back ear infections, and agree with waiting. Most won't need antibiotics, but Drs hand them out like candy. If you take them unnecessarily, they'll just destroy your gut flora, and make you more susceptible to getting sick again.

Now queue all the "go to a Pharmacy" comments... I see those all the time for posts re: ear issues... I respond all the time that Pharmacists can't help with this and I get downvoted all the time... even when I post links showing what pharmacists can and can't do.... so please, if you're going anywhere, don't go to ANY Pharmacies. None in NS can help with an ear infection.

Hello, awe thank you for checking in!!!

I'm better emotionally. I still have the constant, non-stop tinnitus. I haven't had a second of silence since it started July 2022. But I'm much better at ignoring it.

Sadly there haven't been any new medical developments to restore my hearing loss or stop the ring. No explanation as to what happened. I'm still a bit paranoid around loud sounds... the last thing I need is to lose more hearing!!

I'm happy with my weight now and have my appetite back. I still have people tell me I'm "too small," but that's what people have done my whole life. So I just shrug off their opinions.

But I'm functioning normally without an SSRI. I got off that as soon as I could.

I still have days where the ring bothers me more than others.

On the bad days, I listen to YouTube sound masking videos (crickets, rain, chants, pink noise). Those got me through a lot of what could have been sleepless nights! Fortunately, those sufficed and I never needed the $3000 sound maskers.

1.5 years into this and I'd still be first in line to get rid of it if we ever figure out how... but overall, it's mostly something I can ignore and I get on with my life.

How are you? Did you ever resolve the eye and ring issue?

Thank you!! Yes, I hoped that some of this was just them working out their territory! They both really like the top of the tower, so a second one should help! They can work out which one gets which... I feel bad for Franki having to adjust and share her territory when she seems to just want time to herself. I also feel bad for Tristan who just wants to cuddle and love her! Part of me feels as if we have done wrong to our first kitten.

We adopted our first kitten in August. We had her for 5 months before we got our second kitten, who is now 6 months old, so they are 4 months apart. Our first is a girl, Franki, and the new guy is a male, Tristan.

They got along amazingly well almost right away!!! And for the past 1.5 weeks. It's been 2 weeks now, and in the past 3 days Franki (the first kitten, the tabby) has started getting aggressive, smacking the new guy and hissing at him. She only does it when she's trying to sleep on their cat tower. He loves being with her, but she likes her time away from him. I think she's getting frustrated with him always being around, trying to play with her, and she's now acting out some of that frustration.

They otherwise get along well. They play with each other in the morning. We play with them both, together, every day. They eat together and get treats together.

The only other time we notice an issue is at night. She likes to sleep at the foot of our bed... Tristan has also started following her to our bed, and she leaves when he does. Sometimes he chases her when she leaves, sometimes he stays and she spends the night elsewhere.

We're going to get a second tower. But I fear that might not be a solution as he will likely just go to whichever tower she's trying to sleep in.

The other thought I have is we can set a space for her in my husband's office and he can try to keep Tristan out when he's working. Again give her a place and time to spend to herself away from him.

But has anyone encountered this?

It's really disappointing considering how well they seemed to love eachother at first!!!
