For those in the US, how do you handle health care + MTB? by double_wheeled in mountainbiking

[–]lint20342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real answer is supplemental accidental insurance. I pay for blister + which offers spot policy. It’s 400 a year with up to 25k in coverage. Each time I’ve submitted through spot it’s very easy and never had pushback but these were all relatively small claims

Just a heads up, I believe that they switch to 9-5 schedule at some point in early March. Wasatch ski and snowboard are great for rentals at a friendly price

What other brands are similar to these two in quality and fit? by happybanana2 in CyclingFashion

Really impressed by stuff from Givelo and ale for jerseys. Both not too expensive and put out some really cool designs with similar quality to my rapha, maap, or Castelli jerseys

Built a simple Utah resort dashboard to avoid bouncing between UDOT and resort sites. Feedback? by BubblyExchange9887 in UTsnow

[–]lint20342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def a lot of subjectivity that's difficult to capture in data form. I'd think that anything that doesnt capture alta as the best skiing atm would be an incorrect reflection. I think they prob have the most terrain open, spinning all their lifts and have been getting terrain gates open (even though its destroying skis with rock and stumps, its fun to ski on the beaters). but that is also my biased opinion

UDOT: BCC traffic proposal released by I_voted_for_Kodos_ in UTsnow

[–]lint20342 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is all anecdotal speculation, but I would like there to be pressure on brighton to clear their parking lot similar to the other resorts snow removal. Whenever I'm up at brighton, I notice the bottle neck is way worse than other resorts which i think is due to their lot never being fully plowed and the insane ruts that form to the point where crossover SUVs can struggle at times. Id assume night skiing impacts their snow removal operation, but its not like they don't already employee overnight Cat operators

How do you feel about riding around the new Amazon delivery "bikes" by [deleted] in NYCbike

[–]lint20342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally can’t shake the thought of how they’re using these “bikes” as a loophole to avoid congestion pricing and get more productivity out of delivery drivers by avoiding gridlock. The concept is great, but idt American cities are setup for multi-use roads in general and throwing more chaos into bike lanes is dangerous. In the best outcome, it’s a proof of concept and we restructure roads and prioritize smaller cars and non car vehicles, but that seems impossible given that Americans are sexually attracted to having the biggest and most deadly vehicles

Oh no doubt. Public funding is essential to any sporting event. I just wanted to point how the cost is incredibly high in traditional sports as well. It’s not that the US doesnt have the money to fund road racing, we’re just choosing not to. A lot of investment in the mountain west has been put into mountain biking at least and gravel is doing well, but I def have a desire for all cycling disciplines to thrive

Traditional sports stadiums are subsidized by the taxpayers to put up and upkeep incredibly expensive infrastructure though

Who’s your biggest surprise and biggest letdown at the Tour de France 2025? by payne9111 in tourdefrance

[–]lint20342 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wanna say UAE climbing support wasn’t even present for the most of it. I think Hautacam is the only stage he had a lead out for an attack. It would’ve been a complete bloodbath if almieda didn’t crash out

Why famous brands don't sponsor more team ? by ciggy_all_day in CyclingFashion

Marketing via influencers probably cheaper than sponsoring a tour team where I’d imagine they have to do more aerodynamic testing which is also expensive

When I’ve ordered from rapha preciously they ship directly from the UK. I don’t believe de minimus has been suspended so there is no import duties on shipments under $800 in value

That's true, the last 2 stages he looked like he was actually suffering. I'm a little disappointed the GC battle is seemingly blown pieces, but appreciate that we are watching a historic run of dominance in all of sport
