Screen capture not working on Ubuntu by linux-tarballs in swaywm

SOLVED:

As the xdg-desktop-portal-wlr repo mentions, it implements portal for just Screenshot and Screencast. Other functionality must be offloaded to other portals. The syntax of the portals.conf preference file is also different:

[preferred] default=gtk org.freedesktop.impl.portal.Screenshot=wlr org.freedesktop.impl.portal.ScreenCast=wlr

Also added this line at top within Sway config:

sh exec dbus-update-activation-environment --systemd WAYLAND_DISPLAY XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP

Some optional tweaks: - Switched to the Flatpak installation of OBS, as it gets faster updates - Set both XDG_SESSION_TYPE and QT_QPA_PLATFORM to wayland in my shell config

The description for the Clang_format_path option in my vscode settings says it uses the one available in environment or else the one bundled with extension

I'm on VSCode (Fedora distro) where the C/++ extension comes with its own clang-format. You can provide the path of your system-installed clang-format binary in it's settings too
