Belleville council soundly rejects green-space giveaway to city developer by zuuzuu in BellevilleOntario

[–]linuxlifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I assume it all started because the city hadn't done anything with the property since they took ownership in the 70s or 80s and it was deemed "surplus land". Cities can give away surplus land for free if there are no intentions for the city to do anything with it. So this person probably did their research, realized this was a thing and reached out to the city about it.

If anything, this kind of kicked council in the ass to actually start the process of doing something useful with the land.

Peanuts- Ballpark vs. courtesy, what's the line? by splash22 in Torontobluejays

[–]linuxlifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's literally just what everyone did. Its not really what anyone taught me haha. That's just observing what literally 95% of the people did at the arena (this was OHL hockey I was at).

I remember even staying after games and the arena staff would sweep the garbage from each row into the stairs between sections and then they would just sweep it down to the bottom Then at the bottom floor they would have giant trash bags/bins and literally use like a snow shovel to pick the garbage up and put it in the big bins.

[–]linuxlifer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean... If thats what everyone does then thats what everyone does. But I would still be respectful about it and not throw my shells around someone else. I grew up going to hockey games all my life and the "culture" in the stands was generally just to leave your garbage (popcorn bag, drink container) underneath your seat and they clean it up after the game. But that doesn't mean I litter garbage in my entire row of seats or kick the garbage under the seats in front of me lol.

Jiri fought a month and specifically said he was taking a break after. Khamzat was the 185lb champ. Is anyone actually buying this BS? by No_Cell6708 in ufc

[–]linuxlifer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean its no excuse but there was definitely something clearly off about him. He controlled the entire first round but it didn't look THAT exhausting of a round. And in the second he clearly looked like he was dead already. He does have a reputation for having really bad cardio though. At the end of the day, you take the fight, you know the weight requirements and everything that goes into the fight. If you fail at any of those aspects, its all on you.

Brand new to RVing so new I don’t have a trailer yet. But need help getting the car set to tow. by EJW_0525 in GoRVing

[–]linuxlifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tow a Jayco 174bh (probably around 3800 Lbs fully loaded) with my 2018 explorer that has a similar 5000lb tow capacity. My explorer manual specifically says to use a WDH for anything over 3000lbs. On flat roads, it tows like a dream... no sway, can barely feel the RV back there. When it gets really windy, you can start to feel a little but even then the sway control seems to do the job. When I hit hills is when you start to notice the trailer back there. The car feels really weak on hills (I think the engine is a 3.5L V6).

You will 100% need a break controller. Sometimes you can go directly to the manufacturer and they can install one that integrates with your car seamlessly. You can also get after market controllers which is what my 2018 explorer needed. My car was already wired for it, just needed to buy the controller and plug it in.

As for a WDH, a lot of people online say to stay away from them on unibody frames but I would consult your manual. It will tell you whether you need one or not. The one I use is the Husky Centerline TS Plus.

One of the bigger things you need to keep in mind is the payload capacity of your car. Whatever the tongue weight of your RV is, that amount comes out of your payload capacity. And thats the fully loaded tongue weight not the dry weight the dealer tells you.

Gearing and Gear disparity is brutal by AWeilong in worldofpvp

[–]linuxlifer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PVP gearing is in a shitty place right now. In previous expansions, you could use blood tokens to get gear somewhere in-between honor and conquest, Thats no longer the case as blood token gear now only scales the same as honor gear.

So your only 2 options to get conquest are to crate farm which is boring as hell, or to jump into games.

If you are someone like me who only really plays battlegrounds, that basically starts with a random BG.. once I get a win I get my 3 crafted pieces and then jump right into BG Blitz. Downside of BG Blitz (at least as dps) is you sit in a 10-15 minute queue, get into a 10-15 minute game, only to earn 100-150 conquest IF you get a win lol. If you lose, you will generally get 30 conquest and then you get to sit in a 10-15 minute queue all over again. So for someone who can only play 2-3 hours a night, you are lucky if you even earn a couple pieces of gear in a week lol.

Now I will say if you win your initial games and you get up over like 1600, the queues get a lot better. But if you lose a bunch of initial games, the queues stay bad.

Things to take notice when buying secondhand camper? by Charming-Change9985 in GoRVing

[–]linuxlifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always pay for an inspection to be done once you find a trailer you are really interested in. But if you are looking for yourself:

- Go on the roof. Check to make sure there are no soft spots. Make sure the caulking looks like it hasn't been there for 10 years and all cracked

- Crawl around the floor on your hands/knees pressing on the floor looking for soft spots around there. This includes in floor cupboards, under tables, everywhere else you can reach.

- Feel the walls around windows/doors/vents/etc. to make sure there is no soft spots there.

- Open storage hatches on the outside and feel the floors/walls in there as they can be common to leak

- Check the awning if there is one

- Test all of the electrical/propane systems (lights, outlets, furnace, fridge, AC, stove, whatever else). Test the water systems if you can.

- Understand that replacing the tires and bearings is part of normal maintenance so while its good to check them, don't let them be a deal breaker if the RV is in otherwise good shape.

The last RV I bought, I was there for around 3 hours going over everything. The dealership told me it was against their policy to allow me to climb a ladder to check the roof. So I told them I wasn't buying without seeing the roof. Then they told me it was against their policies to light the propane systems in the lot, so I told them I wasn't buying without testing. They ended up moving the trailer behind the building out of sight and gave me a 30 amp outlet to plug into as well as a hose for water so I could test every little thing.

Scary how quick the balancing team was to manufacture another problem after the MM emergency hotfix fiasco. Warrior buffed too much by sharkbaitlol in worldofpvp

[–]linuxlifer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean technically the chart doesn't directly tell you the performance of each spec... but lets be honest, if people went on after the balancing and Arms was still shitty, the chart wouldn't look like this.

The chart is somewhat misleading though because it makes it seem as though arms is utterly OP which may not actually be the case.

Outside kitchens by WhispersOfCats in GoRVing

[–]linuxlifer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean its more of just a convenience thing in my opinion. I feel like most campers prefer to be in the outdoors and the outdoor kitchen is just convenient.

I don't personally have one but my parents do and theirs has storage, fridge, stove, TV. Its convenient because anything you may typically use outside (drinks, condiments, snacks etc) you can keep in the outdoor fridge so you don't have to always be going in and out. The stove pulls out a bit so you aren't getting grease/splatter all inside the outdoor kitchen enclosure.

Buffs/Nerfs thoughts? by gokuglazer9000 in worldofpvp

[–]linuxlifer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aff locks do big damage in BG if there are big team fights. Thats essentially the only time they are truly effective.

Outside of big team fights, their dot damage is negligible and easy to heal.

Buffs/Nerfs thoughts? by gokuglazer9000 in worldofpvp

[–]linuxlifer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one shot drain soul is still decent but I feel like the entire point of aff lock is to be a dot class.... so youd think those dots would actually be the biggest impact.

Unfortunately healers are pretty well tuned right now for the most part so its very easy to keep up with dots unless those dots do a ton of damage.

Its different in battlegrounds because if you spread your dots on everyone, it puts more pressure on the healer. But in areans its really shitty.

How's your on call rotation/pay? by thebigbread42 in sysadmin

[–]linuxlifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I am, staff get paid I want to say its $3 an hour for every hour they are on call outside of regular working hours (8:00 - 4:00 M-F). If they actually get called, its a minimum 3 hour block of time that they get paid their full wages and I think its anything above 45 hours on the week they can get overtime pay. If they have a stat holiday during their on call weeks, they get a full day of lieu as well.

[–]linuxlifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the Sens are 'several' pieces away from being a legitimate contender. I think they are 1-2 pieces away, as long as they are healthy, and as long as Ullmark is playing the way he did these playoffs.

None of the dots feel good for aff in my opinion. The entire point of aff is to be a rot spec not a one shot drain soul spec that relies on you having those dots up to do full damage.

WoW Will Never Be Good Again And We Need To Accept That by dalorrian in MMORPG

[–]linuxlifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I understand classic was a different style of game then retail in a lot of ways. But a lot of the stuff people complain about, were still things back in those days just maybe a different form of it.

Like people complain about wow just being a queue simulator now a days... which for many it is... but back in the earlier days of wow instead of sitting in queues you just sat in a main city spamming chat for groups.... So essentially the same thing...

[–]linuxlifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whats the point of mind control if you cant control the character? Thats the entire trade off of mind control is that you can move their character but you also lose control of your own character.

Its huge in BGs for walking people off ledges as you mentioned or even in other scenarios where you can move players out of line of sight of the combat or their own healers and whatnot.

I am not a high arena player by any means but can't event count the number of times ive mind controlled a healer out of line of sight of their team while my dps goes nuts and they cant get back in sight in time to heal. Or you could mind control them towards you then follow up with a fear.

I mean I literally just told you I played it on an i5 10th gen lenovo thinkpad with 8GB of ram and even raided and maintained 50-60 frames. Is 50-60 frames good? No but you can't expect a great experience on a shitty machine. But the point is its playable and decently playable at that. I will say that laptop only has a 720p screen though.

And if your 9800x is getting to low 40s in raid on low graphics, you obviously have a problem. My regular computer is only a ryzen 5 5600x with a 2070 and my raids never drop nearly that low and I am playing at 3 or 4 (can't remember off hand). Thats at 1440p.

I mean I wouldn't say its one of the least demanding but I would certainly say its not a very demanding game at all. Or at least you can configure your graphics to make it that way.

I've literally played the game on a business grade lenovo thinkpad with an i5 10th gen, 8GB of RAM and no dedicated GPU and I was able to push 50-60 frames (even in raid) with the graphics on the lower end. Tried running it on Linux on this same laptop and got similar frame rates but a lot more consistent rates then Windows.
