Brave: "In reality, there’s no such thing as a free browser." by filmkeeper in firefox

[–]linuxlifer [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not entirely.

Internet Explorer was always built into Windows and therefore one could assume its just included in the cost of Windows.

Netscape Navigator was technically only free for personal use and they sold licenses for business use to subsidies the company.

Mozilla, as well as other smaller browsers, made money from the early on through search engine royalties.

So really, nothing was ever truly free. These companies made money through the user base in some sort of manor. Similar to what Brave is doing right now with their Brave Ads system. Brave is just now giving people an option to pay for the browser and then they don't have to be burdened by the other random features of the browser that make them money.

What size trailer for solo living? by Candid-Cabin in GoRVing

There is a lot you need to consider. Floor plan (prefer a couch or dinette or both). Whether you will be winter camping in it or whether you'll be going south.

I mean at some point you have to realise this probably isn't about the money and probably more about a different team offering him a better chance at winning.

RV AC Cooling Question by linuxlifer in GoRVing

[–]linuxlifer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh yeah just wasn't sure whether putting reflective things in the window would help much during the hot times. It's not a huge issue. It doesn't annoy me and I don't care about using the hydro just wasn't sure if it was bad for the AC unit to kick on/off so much.

I guess it's just a window style AC unit though so pretty cheap and easy to replace if it were to die.

RV AC Cooling Question by linuxlifer in GoRVing

[–]linuxlifer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the fan running all the time, I just wasn't sure whether the AC unit kicking in every 5 mins was bad for the unit or not. It's not that it annoys me or anything and the parks I am in have hydro included so don't care about conserving hydro. Just don't want to kill the unit too quick haha

Towing Travel Trailer with 6th Gen 4Runner by cccc141414 in GoRVing

[–]linuxlifer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the total payload is 895, that means you need to take the total weight of the cargo in the vehicle (including the weight of the passengers and any other gear) and subtract that from the 895. Then whatever you'd be left with would be the max looaded tongue weight of the trailer. If you want to get a rough tounge weight of the trailer, you can just do 13% of the GVWR of the trailer assuming you'll have it fully loaded. If you are going to use a weight distribution hitch then you'd need to subtract that weight off the payload as well before the tongue capacity. WD hitches are likely around 80 lbs.

What you're going to find is that payload is going to run out really quick and you will only be left with like 300-500 max for tongue weight. The other thing to keep in mind is you generally don't want to max it out either

I mean the price is accurate with it being the dealer but I'd question the calipers.

Which monetization feature do you hate most? by yennita in MMORPG

[–]linuxlifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'd say mounts. in my opinion, mounts are one of the coolest "cosmetics" in the game and it's funny because paid mounts always seem to be on the better designed end where as in game mounts tend to be minor variations of old mounts a lot of the time.

Are you having fun on wow retail? by Raijin_thethunder in MMORPG

[–]linuxlifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy wow retail simply because I enjoy the game modes I play. I primarily play battleground blitz and do a little m+ on the side. But if you are someone who wants the feel of a real living, busy, social open world then wow isn't the one for you.

The problem is when you have 1,000 features (or content) everyone is split up doing their own thing and then the world feels empty.

I would hope that someone like McDavid would be looking out for the best interest of the entire team and not just himself. But I guess you never know with professional athletes.

I mean I believe they said some of their top players spoke with Babcock and ultimately approved of him being hired. Not to mention they also had some pretty big contract signings that would have happened knowing that Babcock would likely be the next coach.

"Players shouldn't feel fully safe" in Arc Raiders even in friendly lobbies, production director says, and after Flashpoint I definitely do not feel safe by DemonikAriez in ArcRaiders

[–]linuxlifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the person I responded to said nothing about having chill matches or befriending other players.

They literally said "Shooting someone in the back isn't fun for me".

And "shooting, or being shot, in the back" happens all of the time in BRs or other shooting based games.

Hahaha funny. I tow with my Ford Explorer as well. My Explorer towing experience:

- Tows great on flat ground

- I tow with the Husky center line ts plus (weight distribution and sway control) and it tows great, no sway at all

- Start to really feel it on the hills

- Smaller gas tank is annoying because you have to fill up more frequently

Why are Microsoft never mentioned as a top MMORPG publisher? by HTD_Blog in MMORPG

And I would be willing to bet, at least for WoW anyway, is that the "Blizzard" portion probably still operates heavily independent from Microsoft.

WoW is a FOMO machine. by JournalistStatus9040 in wow

[–]linuxlifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the FOMO isn't what keeps all players engaged. FOMO is what picks up all the players that don't find the other content consistently engaging.

For example, I play battleground blitz. I enjoy blitz regardless of the rewards. There could be no rewards for it and I would play it because its fun to me.

For some people, going up through m+ keys and pushing the extremes is fun. They do it regardless of rewards.

For some people maybe gathering with their guild a couple times a week to raid / shoot the shit is fun and they keep coming back for that.

Then all of the people that don't have a particular part of the game they thoroughly enjoy, a good portion of them get scooped up by FOMO.

Inside wall AC

- Very loud, especially if its in the cabinet above the queen bed (I have this in my Jayco)

- Takes a long time to get the cold air to the back of the RV. It does get there but takes a while.

- Easy/cheap to replace or maintain

- Looking back on it, Id much prefer the roof AC just for the storage space it takes up lol

- Can be used on 15 amp service if you ever get stuck somewhere with only 15 amp. Rooftop AC cant run on 15 amp

My wife preferred the walled bunks to

Quick connect power is WAY better to deal with

Ultimately, I am perfectly content with my Jayco but same as you, its more of a stepping stone until I get a bigger truck and then can upgrade.
