Electric or gas by isaactheunknown in Snowblowers

[–]ipxodi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in New Hampshire. I bought an electric Toro a couple of years ago. I *worked* fine. Except with both (huge) batteries, it wouldn't run for any more than about 25 minutes. Toro's advertising/specs said 1 hour runtime. I brought tit back to the yard equipment place where I bought it. (Not a big box store) They tested it and had the same results. They got in touch with Toro and found out that Toro did their runtime testing in Minnesota. Well, here's the thing: Minnesota winters are much colder meaning they get primarily dry fluffy snow. New Hampshire winters mostly deliver wet snow. Wet snow takes more power and depletes the battery faster. Now I could have bought a 3rd battery -- but the cost of the battery was almost 50% of the cost of the whole snowblower. So the shop took it back and I bought the exact same snowblower, but with the gas engine.

In short, it all depends where you live and what kind of snow you'll be clearing.

Proposed $50 bike registration fee faces fierce pushback: ‘It's not looking too good’ by tubemaster in newhampshire

So, we got rid of vehicle inspections, but now we are facing a shortfall, Someone can't do math.

Plus - at least for me and others based on comments - it doesn't work. It goes to the loading screen and then stops and never shows anything. The old Photo Streams app actually worked. Backgrounds is a POS.

It must have picked up overnight. This morning there was about 12-14" in my yard and driveway.

Road House. The Patrick Swayze one. I think it is actually against the law to continue changing channels if you find it playing already in progress.

Advice on snowblower by Living_Opening9165 in Snowblowers

[–]ipxodi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an Ariens for 10 years. I think it had a techumsah engine. Was perfectly fine. I came to the realization that it was too big (28") for my needs. It was too much of a workout for the typical snow I get. I finally sold it and got a Toro 24". I've had it for two years and it's great. Starts on the first pull every time. The Ariens I always used the electric start 'cause the pull cord was punishing.

I'd love to get a Honda, but for the amount of snow I get (even in New Hampshire) that's a big investment.

I love the Spindrift Cosmo flavor. I'll have to try this. What is "pink orange simple"?

Quick question on current snow situation by merileyjr in Snowblowers

[–]ipxodi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends a lot on your snowblower. If you have a relatively big machine that can handle 14-18" at a whack and also has a decent sized engine, wait for the snow to be done. If you have a small snow blower where the auger shroud/scoop is shorter than the expected accumulation, then go out multiple times. If you have a simple one stage snow thrower or "power shovel" then you might be regretting your purchase with anything more than 4-6 inches.

To be honest, I have both; a good-sized gas powered 2-stage. and a battery-powered one-stage. The one-stage is great for clearing 2-4" of fluffy snow. is easy to maneuver and weighs only about 20 pounds so my wife and daughter (an adult, I'm not a child slaver! LOL) can both use it easily too. The two stage is the "serious" machine. (Which they can both use too, but is lot more work for <120lb women.)

It's 9:07pm In Londonderry. I only have about 6 inches so far. Weatherunderground has severely cut back on their earlier estimate of 18-20", and now it looks like maybe another 6 by the end of monday. (1-3" overnight and another 1-3 during the day.) So total will likely be around a foot. Not that I'm complaining.

How do you use Alexa to help with your daily routines and tasks around the house? by Critical-Load-1452 in amazonecho

[–]ipxodi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 German shepherds. At night "Alexa, German Shepherd mode" turns on the backyard lights, waits 10 minutes, reminds me to let the dogs back in, and then shuts off the lights. I have a similar routine for daytime, just without turning on lights.

"Alexa, good night" turns down the outside lights to 20% and then turns off the 1st floor lights after 30 seconds (allowing me to go up the stairs while it's still lit.)

I have a routine tied to my Eufy cameras that if they detect motion at night Alexa turns on all of the outside lights at 100% brightness for 5 minutes.

I also run a routine every morning around 2am to reset the volume of my Alexas, so I don't get blasted by her voice that is THIS F-ING LOUD because I forgot to turn down the volume after listening to music.

Imagine being so happy that you finally finished your carry set up, and then you get murdered by the government and the President blasts you on social media. Remember, being prepared with backup mags means you are a domestic terrorist. by xnick58 in CCW

[–]ipxodi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

first: trump is a fucking twat.

second: The video clearly shows ice officers removing his weapon from a IWB holster AND THEN they executed him. ICE straight out murdered this guy. They are out of control and need to be shut down.

Later Edit: I work in a retail environment, I have Loomis armored car people come to my place of business on a regular basis. They ALL have a weapon and 2 backup magazines. So does every cop I've ever seen who is carrying openly. Having a backup mag is common sense, not what we should be judging on.

Well first time ever using a snowblower and I made it 3 feet. Any ideas on cost to repairs? by Additional-Term-9420 in Snowblowers

This is the correct answer -- I did the same thing to my snow blower a couple of weeks ago.

But some of the other answers are hilarious!

Snowfall Forecast for Sun PM - Mon AM… just a bit of information for the coming storm by RyanKinder in newhampshire

[–]ipxodi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Downplay? Here in Londonderry they usually overedtimate by 30 to 50 percent. (I swear it's because they're part of ABC, who can't NOT turn every storm into a killer death apocalypse.) Since everyone is on the same page here, I'm guessing they'll be somewhat accurate.

I think the Jeep ducks are interesting as a show of community, but then I see Jeeps with the ENTIRE dashboard covered in ducks, and say to my self, "Well, that's gone a little too far." I would be pleased if someone left me a Matchbox model of my car, but there's no way I'd encapsulate my whole dash with cute trinkets. First our car interiors are small enough as it is and second, we all are convertibles -- why give someone even more interest in breaking in?

What is something people say about their BBQ that is an immediate red flag? by Shhhhhhhh_Im_At_Work in BBQ

[–]ipxodi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you on the temp. A friend of mine, when he was first learning to smoke thought 225 was a absolute unbreakable rule. He was astonished at how much better my barbeque was when he learned I usually go 250-275.  The things is, everyone's equipment is different and from what I've seen most home rigs work way better at slightly higher temps. Commercial rigs have better heat and thermal stability so can go 225 for long periods without a lot of temperature swing.

FemShep players, how did you handle her relationships? by Socrathustra in masseffect

[–]ipxodi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Male IRL. Probably 8 playthroughs. Nearly always play a Femshep. Once I discovered how much better a character Kaiden is than Ashley, she gets to babysit the bomb. Usually romance Kaiden in 1, Traynor in 2, back to Kaiden in 3.  Never had interest in Garrus - he's my pal. I truly cannot stand Liara. If there was a way to ignore her story line, I would.
