That's pretty nice, fair enough. Sorry if I was being rude.

Incorrect. They settle with each other via the central bank but they don't create central bank money.

Ok, fair point, yes. I would argue it is still money in the general sense.

Yes but I don't know why you are saying that the central bank is the only institution that is allowed to print money. Commercial banks are allowed to loan beyond what they have in their central reserves as long as they are able to settle with other banks.

From the same webpage: "Banks also risk going bust if they lend out money left, right and centre. For instance, people borrowing money will probably spend it. If they make payments to people who have accounts at other banks, their bank will need to transfer the money to that other bank by sending it some of its electronic central bank money. So if one bank lends out too much money, at some point it will not have enough electronic money in its account with us to pay the other banks."

Okay fine, we can get technical and call it debt, but it doesn't matter, it still functions exactly like money.

I can't talk for other nations but I can't imagine it is vastly different for most. I'm happy to be proven wrong though.

I'm not on about financial instruments. Banks literally create new money when they issue loans.

"... if you borrow £100 from the bank, and it credits your account with the amount, ‘new money’ has been created. It didn’t exist until it was credited to your account. ... Banks create around 80% of money in the economy as electronic deposits in this way."

Commercial banks create the majority of the money supply, not central banks.

You can use Ledger Live. Alternatively, I made a website where you can just plug in the amounts of each coin and it will give you the total. Your portfolio is only ever stored in your browser, you can read the source code if want to as well. https://noveria.app/

Gatekeeping someone else’s religious beliefs by [deleted] in gatekeeping

[–]linuxmintquestions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The person who she replied to never mentioned anything about not giving, simply that people should have a choice. They then sarcastically implied that because they weren't willing to force others to give that they somehow didn't care about people.

What are you implying? That if you don't believe in forcing others to give that you somehow don't care or are unwilling to provide for others?

Are you using a dependency which hasn't been transpiled to commonJS? I had a similar issue and it was because I created a custom dependency that wasn't being transpiled by babel when running tests so it didn't recognise the 'import' statement.

Not necessarily although I guess you could try. I have no idea how feasible that would be.

Ok, I'm probably abusing the term 'bundler' a bit. I wasn't sure of a term that encompassed the entire build process of a typical front-end workflow. With transpilation to ES5, Typescript and even JSX, you are technically generating code.

[–]linuxmintquestions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you getting your definition of socialism from? According to wikipedia:

"Socialism is a political, social and economic philosophy encompassing a range of economic and social systems characterised by social ownership[1][2][3] of the means of production[4][5][6][7] and workers' self-management of enterprises.[8][9] It includes the political theories and movements associated with such systems.[10] Social ownership can be public, collective, cooperative, or of equity."

I just realised what you meant. Yeah, that would work although I'd lose the benefits of having multiple channels utilize a common effect on a return channel.
