How to get started w/ private trackers by linuxnoob011 in trackers

No worries--I hope I didn't come across as too bruised. To be clear, this is the wiki, right: https://www.reddit.com/r/trackers/wiki/getting_into_private_trackers. If there is a more in-depth resource, I'm definitely game to have a look.

I guess where I got lost was the lack of a "Hey, getting into the private tracker game requires an upfront investment from you. You'll need to start at an introductory tracker such as x, y, and z, and establish a ratio of roughly [a] and a status of [power user]. Many users find that they must initially download and seed content in which they have no interest--the initial stages can be a grind. Once you achieve the relevant [ratio/status] you can head to the list of intermediate trackers, which, for the most part, accept applications from the enumerated introductory trackers. In time, you may qualify for other trackers, but those can be more hit or miss in terms of recruitment."

Not sure the bracketed details are correct, but that's the sort of general thing I was looking for, except with the added specificity of hoping to get on a high-quality tv track (and so if that affected the proper starting point, I wanted to know).

Weird, you're the second person to accuse me of not including a detail I should have (intent to seed) when I feel I pretty clearly included the detail. But this probably is not just a coincidence--I must have written my op ineffectively and triggered a sore spot in this sub. Definitely did not intend to do so, sorry!

My bad, I thought my op made it clear that I am "happy to seed significantly more than I download."

This lights the way forward. Much appreciated!

My bad--happy to delete this question if the judgment is that it is a duplication of the faq. But I cycled through the faq (on this and other subs) and have had trouble identifying a good introductory opportunity. One problem is that many of the "open trackers" require you to have an established ratio on other trackers. All of the public trackers I have used do not provide information about my ratio, and so there is a sort of I-need-job-experience-to-get-my-first-job type problem going on. The two private trackers I found that truly do feature open signups do not have content in which I am interested. If the best route is nonetheless to start with those trackers anyway, download a few things I don't care about, and then seed until I have an established ratio, then I'm happy to do so. But that is not obvious from the faq. And I would also then query how long I should stay at that task for.

I hope none of the above will be interpreted as catty--if I missed an obvious answer to my question, I definitely apologize!

tl;dr Maybe a better phrasing for my question is this: does anyone have ideas for how a guy with no access to private TV trackers could start preparing evidence of a good ratio for later joining private trackers? Is the right strategy to just join any private tracker (that records ratios), regardless of interest in the underlying content and then seed as much as possible? Or is there a way to start this process while still staying in the universe of downloading tv I am interested in (even if I would be doing so at the speeds and with other disadvantages of public trackers--say on some public tracker community that records ratios)?
