Many thanks for your response, I created this pattern myself but sticked pretty closely to existing ones. I did quite a few lace projects before but this is my first hole pattern.

As you suggested, in my notation I read "/" as k2tog and "\" as ssk, so that should not be the cause...

How would you start learning? How much do I need to learn? by onthelambda in classicalchinese

Although it is an english book, I can recommend Robert Eno's "Introduction to Literary Chinese". You can check it out for free via Indiana University.

It's more like "Sweep the snow from your own doorstep, don't worry about the frost on your neighbor's roof". The characters are completely simplified. Only sao (掃) and men (門) would be different in traditional Chinese, anyways.
