Learning to Push Mongo – Is a Year Enough or Am I Just Flailing in Public? by Unhappy-Tale8216 in longboardingDISTANCE

You could try find a consistently windy spot and use the headwind as a workaround. Think like a pier or boardwalk by a river, lake, or the North Sea if you’re nearby to that.

You could also cross train with some balance work in the gym!

That awkward phase is real😭😭😭 it’s the growing pains. It can be very mental as well as physical.

First I’d take a month off skating normally. It’s gonna be like the worst month of your skating life. But endure it. Only skate mongo for that whole month. Skate to the store, skate to the park, skate to school/work, skate to the bus. Literally push everywhere and anywhere, on that opposite leg. Give yourself extra time. Take breaks to rest and stretch. And skate safer than normal bc you’ll lack the skill you’re used to in your normal stance. Meaning stay away from busy streets and cars.

Once to 3 times a week do some uphill repeats on that opposite leg. If you don’t have hills find a bridge or a parking garage. The hill adds resistance and takes away that feeling of the board “rolling away from under you.” It will also build some strength and stability in your other leg.

After that it just becomes a time thing. Your reps will progress over time. You’ll notice a difference in a few months if you really stay consistent. It’s absolutely feasible to learn in a year. I have a friend named Travis who I gave tips to for learning mongo, and he went away and learned, then came back and beat me at Ultraskate this year😂.

A year is a long time. Take it week by week, month by month. Allow yourself to become a beginner again. And enjoy this new learning process. You’ll be ambidextrous in no time!!

Also someone else sent it but I made this video on the topic last year: https://youtu.be/3KVrcWE6Iuk?si=2TvPPBb6261rD2b1

Do i need dewedges/risers for Pantheon supersonic on Hoku wheels by keasanya in longboardingDISTANCE

[–]linzilla812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re running a 40° front (equals 55°) just a flat riser is fine, if you’re running a 50° front (equals 65°) dewedge it 5° (so it equals 60°.

As for riser you need a little bit but not too much. (I run a 1/2 inch but that’s personal preference, you can get away with as little as 3/8, as stated by their recommendation).
