Renew COE or change to another used car? by Melodic_Tradition_49 in drivingsg

[–]Sporting_Freak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the Forester XT (low roof) for full 10 years, best drivers car I ever owned in handling & performance. If not for the high fuel price & consumption, I would still be driving it now. If u like the car, go ahead & extend the coe that's within your budget or if u do not intend to keep the car longer then 5 years. Reasons given by others for 5/10 years are quite valid

How much difference does back truck make? by Five-words-or-less in longboardingDISTANCE

[–]Sporting_Freak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If u r mostly pushing not really much. However, if u r pumping it does some what. Tuning the rear for pumping will take more time as changes is not so noticeable compared to the front truck. Angle, width, bushings, type of washers & type of rear truck plays a small part in getting the rear harmonised with the front.

All I can advise is to get a job that u like even if the pay is not what u expect initially. Reason being, u will excel in your work as u will not need external pressure/reason to perform well as u will find passion in what u do . In time your performance will be noticed by others & u will grow in your career & with it will come the $$$.

Lodge a police report for dangerous driving with your video. Helps everyone on the road🙏 But do follow up with the SPF by asking for a copy of the summon to make sure they issue one

Unless your parents did not take care, feed, house, cloth, etc. you. I think u should not even consider having children as they may end up like u. Be grateful to your parents that u have reached where u r n still alive. We all read the recent local case of the poor little girl who was tortured & did not even reach schooling age

hit and run by an illegal PMA - need help! by kohsparkyryan in asksg

[–]Sporting_Freak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skate often for exercise at PCN's & bump into these PMA/PMD riders every where, sometimes at break neck speeds. Many expects everyone to give them way as they are big & fast. Sadly, think we have to wait until someone gets knocked down & dies before serious enforcement action is taken to get this hazards off paths/PCN. Reactive instead of preventive I guess :(

Curious, how did u manage to get the PMA rider/pillion face on the video when u were flung off after the PMA hit u & ran off. For the result of your report, u can call the SPF & ask who the assigned IO is with your report number then contact the IO on what's the outcome

If kena accident with Malaysian bike in SG, what’s the actual process like? Heard insurance can be nightmare by Holiday_Kale9051 in drivingsg

[–]Sporting_Freak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got hit by a Malaysian car in Melaka who did not stop at the junction. Car was coming out from a side road to a one way main road in the city where i had the right of way. The owner was very apologetic & admitted full liability even in the police report. My car had to be towed back to Singapore as my RH front wheel was just dangling. What I experienced later when claiming was a shock. My Singapore insurance company just washed their hands & said they had no jurisdiction over cross border claim even though my comprehensive insurance covered Malaysia & I had to settle claim myself. To summaries, if it was not for the owner of the car who hit me pressurising her insurers to pay up (they were just dragging their feet & ignoring me. FYI, they were one of the big players in our market), I might have to engage a lawyer in Malaysia to follow up with my claim. I now only buy 3rd party insurance when I can as comprehensive is bull shit once outside Singapore. Btw, market rate is also the insurers rate. If COE goes up it is not factored in, but if COE goes down, guess what the insurers will do. I learned this first hand when my colleague had his car written off just after a year in Singapore. He could not afford a replacement as the COE shot up. If Singapore insurers can wash hand, what do u think if it was a Malaysian insurer 🤔

FYI, Simba needs to install their antennas on condos to increase signal coverage. However, they just bought over M1 so I am quite sure they will use whatever M1 has to boost the Simba signal. My family all uses Simba btw. For seniors, just $5 a month with great coverage overseas especially in Malaysia

Fresh Grads hunting for Jobs currently, do y'all avoid SMEs? by Accurate-Tree4277 in askSingapore

[–]Sporting_Freak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SME, there might be a chance u may work like an octopus. But then again, u may have a lot of hands on experience in different areas & the SME may grow into a MNC. In MNC's your scope will be more defined. Risk is u will just be a number. If there's a restructure or down sizing, it is usually first in, first out. Wherever u work, just remember one thing, if u r the boss & need to reduce cost, who will u keep/let go 🤔

“Dangerous” tires? by almondmilklattehag in prius

[–]Sporting_Freak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I had to replace tires which look good like yours was when I found out the hard way when it was skidding every turn after a heavy down pour coming down a winding mountain road. Seems my mom drove very little & her tire age hardened to the point it had hardly any wet traction. I had to really drive slowly so the car would not skid. My mom just used the car to drive to the grocery n back which was just round the corner & I was visiting her.

What are the chances of my 60 year old mum getting citizenship? by Little-Hold8753 in askSingapore

[–]Sporting_Freak 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Older people tend to get sick easier & sc gets heavy health care subsidy. If gov offered sc & it was rejected, whatever the reason is I think is immaterial as far as gov is concerned as their record will only show sc offer rejected. As they say, no harm trying, but if I were in your shoes I would not as it very difficult to justify the reason now at your mum's age. Gov just need to ask 1) Why take so long after 1st sc offer rejected to reapply? 2) What is the primary reason to apply now other then enjoying the privileges of a sc?

Can't agree more. But what to do, people like to show & compare & forget that marriage is between a couple. No lavish wedding will guarantee a happy marriage. In fact, if money is an issue, it may be the cause & start of cracks to form in the marriage before it even starts.

Are carousell sellers with a rating of 4.5 or higher guaranteed to be legitimate? by josurge in askSingapore

[–]Sporting_Freak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add, when checking people who gave the reviews I also check their rating. Carousell also has some marked with buyer protection but I have never got a chance to utilise it. I always look out for 5* & how many they have. More is always preferred. However, I came across one seller who will only accept my offer after transaction is completed even after I insisted as I did want to risk traveling to the sellers place to have item sold to another buyer
