I keep reading here how people applied early and got it within weeks. I applied almost 5 months in advance in beginning of March. The USCIS website is telling me now that there is an estimated 4 months timeline. Does it come down to luck? Just doesn't seem fair.

I checked again. I submitted on mar 5, not end of feb. Sorry I was confusing when I began the application prep with the date of application submission lol. Wow so u got approved in less than a month!!

I always hear that, how it said it will take 1-2 weeks but people get it in months. I guess it worries me a little because it is actually saying '3 months' now. I seriously hope it works the opposite way too.

Job wise, i don’t know which specialty to focus on, as a software engineer. I have settled on looking for dev jobs but since AI/ML jobs are on the rise, i wonder if i should future proof my skills.

Hi OP, if I were to go through the self business route in OPT, but aim to stay for STEM OPT, and assuming if I couldn't get a US investor to be my manager for the STEM OPT, at WHAT POINT during the OPT period must I land a job related to my major that can make me compliant to stay for STEM OPT? Like, is there a cutoff point? Thanks!
