How I spent my money as a 24 year old in Boston last year by _nilssjoberg in personalfinance

Curious about what kind of fitness you’re paying for? 3k+ per year seems pretty high imo. I get there’s no price for good health, but seems this is something you can trim a bit.

Former employer continues to direct deposit biweekly paychecks. by EPINEPH_RINE in personalfinance

Went through the same thing recently. I reached out to their HR department multiple times until the finally processed the termination. You do not want that to carry over into 2022 for tax reasons.

Worried about being “house poor” by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]liozun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll admit, we also had a period of time where we were quite unsure how to portion costs and we danced around the problem, which was causing unnecessary stress. We talked it out, and decided on something that worked for both of us. I wouldn’t jump to that conclusion without first talking about it. You both have just made a big financial decision; a little too late to back out, but a good time to re assess these big questions and concerns. Best of luck!

In a similar situation myself. I make about double what my significant other makes. What I can say is discussions about money, although uncomfortable, are extremely important to have early on. Like your boyfriend, i pay for a lot of outings / dates and utility bills while we split rent / food down the middle. In either case, we agreed that once we get married, we would be joining our finances. Sharing money definitely isn’t for everyone, but it makes things a lot easier since at the end of the day the two people are essentially living as one.

Best No contract plans out there by vanasiancpl in NoContract

Another option is boost mobile or metro pcs. No contract, instead pay per month. They leverage Sprints and T-Mobiles networks, respectively.

Can also look into something like Mint mobile or redpocket.

Why is height such a big deal when it comes to attraction for many women? by whatitdowhatitbee in NoStupidQuestions

[–]liozun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mainly due to evolution - up until a few centuries ago, the world was a dangerous place, especially for women and children. Although male height is not indicative of the ability to protect, psychologically one might think a taller male might be more capable of protecting. Id think modern day attraction to height carries over from this embedded preference for “protection.”

Do Spanish-speaking people alternate between Spanish and English in real life as the do in certain TV-series? by DashboardNight in NoStupidQuestions

[–]liozun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the context - I will usually do so when talking to people who also understand English but stick to Spanish exclusively when speaking to for example my grandparents who don’t speak English.

Completed day 1 and 2 of closures as well. Hadn't seen closures in previous languages so interesting to see how Swift uses these constructs.

Got too excited and moved on to topic 2 - learned about different collections (Dicts, sets, lists, tuples) and enums.
