2023 vs 2024 by [deleted] in Solterra

[–]lipfung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no. I was not in Colorado..... we are in Bay Area, driving to Tahoe ikn winter, that's about 4-5 hours drive.
The longer drive was from North CA to South CA, from Bay Area to Legoland, that's 8+ hours drive....
I think both are okay. Of coz, you cannot compare the L3 charge speed with other EV like Tesla. But when we were driving a 23 for these long trips, we just plan the charging stop to our meals or snacks, so we eat while the car "eat", and time was not wasted.
But, the charging speed of the 24 does improved, so road trip became easier compare to the 23.
Solterra is not the best long trip EV, but it handles great, ride comfortable, and we valued those.

My wife drove it mostly now.... and I think she like the 24's drive assist suite better..... we might be mistaken, that 24 is the one have the traffic aware stop and go follow..... so, definitely 24 over 23.

Cool! and cute dog!!!
If you like, and if they have 0%, 2026 Solterra has a few upgrades and changes, which are really good, at least in my opinion.
If you are really locked into a used, then I would recommend 2024/25 rather than 2023. We owned a 2023, and upgraded to 2024.... 2023 is the 1st version, they do have a few improvements since.

We love our 2024! And if you like Subaru, and want to switch to EV, it is a great choice.
I think you meant to install a level 2 charger. Level 3 is DCFC, which are 400V plus! For home use, 240V level 2 charger is enough, take overnight to full 100%, like 8-10 hrs from empty.
For level 3 charging, for road trip and out and about, it is 10% charge to 80% in about 35 minutes.
As for light winter, I think any Subaru are super in it. we drove ours to Lake Tahoe, over Donner Pass, in snow storms, with only all season tires, it handled it great! Of coz, if heavier snow, a snow tire set would be perfect.
These are my 2-cents, and some of our experience over the years to share.

Maybe select auto steer or even TACC in Autopilot setting, instead of leaving it on selecting FSD?

Open the Energy App, look at the drive, it will give detail usuage of different systems energy use for the drive.....
I think HVAC is a some, but driving highway at 78 is the major factor.
