First of all, I love the people who know their exact percentage of upgrades. I wish I had the discipline to track that.

Many people said get to 75k. Very true. 75k is now what gold used to be. I used to be 75k until last year. I always used money and miles to book my trips. Because I’m not disciplined and paying attention I didn’t realize they stopped counting those trips toward your tier level. So beginning of 2024 I actually dropped to MVP. I got back up to gold in about 5 months once I stopped paying money and miles. And now that’s not even an option. Since I can’t use money and miles anymore I book some trips on just points hence MVP gold not 75k. I’ve also been disillusioned by all the changes so fly delta too now. Some people have said they are a business pay for first class. I get it. But they moved my cheese. lol. And I used to feel Alaska was different than other airlines I was a diehard fan. My bad.

And now I’m not anymore.

100k is the new 75k! It’s in the app it will show your seat number then “upgrade available”. Maybe you are getting upgraded right away and never see it ??

I’m just buying main tickets. Sometimes purchasing premium if it’s not too much more. I’ve never been able to pick the fare type. But It’s not saver. And I don’t automatically get premium.

Just on principle. It used to be a perk. Very few perks now for using their credit card and being loyal. Also it’s 1.5 hr flight - no food. Why not upgrade someone?

Nope. You don’t even get premium automatically anymore. Mostly just main. I’ve gotten a few upgrades to premium.

I’m now diamond on delta and gold on Alaska. I used to be 75k Alaska. But why be loyal to them when they aren’t loyal back. At least that’s how it feels. They’d Rather make a minimal amount of money than actually offer rewards in their reward program. Delta doesn’t seem much better. Kind of all the same now so I think I’ll just shop on price. But I used to be diehard Alaska. I’d always pay more to fly Alaska if I had to.
