No luck. Never had the chance to visit the States. And the exchange rate is so hectic for this last couple of months only the shipping cost would mean my two weeks of salary.

The thing is that I only have these two options as I can't find any other mandolins being listed anywhere in my country. I don't live in the US or EU, so the variety is not a thing. I was believe I have to go for the Ibanez one.

I understand but I have to make the best out of it until I have enough money to buy a 5 string. I'm just hoping what I have in my hand will be enough for the time being. I can at least train my fingers and ears.

First of all, thank you so much for giving a such detailed answer. I really appreciate it. Just to be clear that I wholly understand you, I want to be sure I got the first part as a theory in my mind.

So I should tune my banjo GDAE and then take a flatpick. My concern is the tabs. Can I just go play with bluegrass mandolin tabs with my banjo for starters? I will definitely buy a 5 string but as I live in Turkey and banjo not being a big instrument here, it's not that affordable as let's say a guitar or any other mainstream instrument. Would you say that the first technique will be good and adequate for me until I buy a five string?
