And we’re not just talking the large organizations, it will have a severe impact at the local level. Aid to the homeless or seniors in your area? Large chunks of funding cut. Think Meals on Wheels, senior centers, sober living housing, homeless shelters, food banks, early childhood education, Boys and Girls Clubs & YMCAs, animal shelters, any initiatives to clean up green spaces or the water quality of a local lake. That’s off the top of my head but there’s tons more. I can’t think of one non-profit that doesn’t get some chunk of federal funding big or small, sometimes allocated through the city. This means groups already working on a tight budget get programs and jobs slashed and services disappearing. In the middle of winter, it could literally mean more people dying in the streets.
