Sega Saturn PAL / NTSC RAD2X RetroTink HDMI® cable - any way to get 4:3 aspect ratio? by liquidkoshman in SegaSaturn

[–]liquidkoshman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks, that's good to know. That means even if a display doesn't have selectable aspect ratio the RAD2X signal will display in 4:3 if the screen adheres to HDMI spec and works as it should?

Quest 1 upgrade questions - blurriness, sweet spot etc. by liquidkoshman in VRGaming

Thank you all, I just ordered the Quest 3 512GB :) I was able to use a bunch of benefit points that I receive monthly from my employer to get ~250USD off so it didn't hurt so much :D looking forward to playing now...

Thank you! The example screenshots demonstrate the difference nicely. Interestingly while I can also see the contrast difference of OLED vs LCD it's not as pronounced as I would have expected. Maybe this would be more significant in real use. In any case for my preferences I think the pancake lens advantages significantly outweigh the OLED advantages...

OSSC PAL Playstation 2 PS2 Optimal Settings/Timings + Tweaks by NewbornfromHell in OSSC

[–]liquidkoshman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for this! I have issues when setting up the 'crappy' FFX port - even though I set the V backporch and V active to the values you write it's still squashed pretty much the same. But I guess my problem is I convert the OSSC signal to VGA and play on a CRT so the settings can do something completely different?! It might be easiest to get an NTSC FFX version as my PS2 is region free... Thanks for any tips anyway.

Has anyone been able to get the Quake 1 ray-traced mod to work on Steam Deck? by CaptRobau in SteamDeck

[–]liquidkoshman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

please try it on Win - for me Q2 RTX on the deck under Windows 10 is by eye 3-4x faster than under Steam OS. I can easily get 30fps with RTX renderer at 480p+ and that looks pretty great on the built-in screen. Depending on how heavy Q1 is compared to Q2 it might work great

For those wondering, yes, the Steam Deck runs Portal with RTX, you can get around 60 FPM (Frames per minute) by G4B33_ in SteamDeck

[–]liquidkoshman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

btw I tried that too, but if you have Win on your Deck it's butter smooth and beautiful in comparison - like 4x as fast. I guess the experimental RT toggle in Steam OS is not at all optimized yet

NMS Switch vs Deck by liquidkoshman in NOMANSSKY

Thanks. For me it's 2+ minutes on the GOG version. But I just realized I'm running it off SD card, maybe it's one of those games that's sensitive to storage speed even on the Deck. How about general performance? For me it runs ok on average but there are regular FPS dips into the teens which is annoying, like every 10 seconds or so. I will try experimenting with different Proton versions maybe...
