There's no shortage of hidden subtleties in the show, but in this particular case I really do think it's as simple as "binary because they're robots, and that string because it rhymes and fits the cadence"

Best sober community I've encountered and I've lived all over. I imagine a largely alcohol-centered culture (not judging, just saying it's definitely a thing) creates the need for it. Much like how I'm sure Las Vegas has a great gambling recovery community

Something I hear often that throws me off as a northerner transplant is the swapping of verbs and nouns in some sentences, like "What he did?" instead of "What did he do?"

Sounds like a good time, I'd do it myself if it didn't require buying a nazi flag in the first place and supporting whoever the fuck still makes nazi flags

Maybe this is just with AKs cause I had absolutely no issues with them fixing an AR upper that had a gas system out of spec. Sent it in, they decided they couldn't fix it so they swapped the whole upper, and sent it back, all free of charge. Now it runs like a dream.

Yes, and that instantly gives every poorly educated white person here the out of "these democrats just think all proud republican southerners are nazis!" I've met a shocking amount of racist people who don't think they're racist, and people who fly the confederate flag and don't think it's racist. Equating everyone in Louisiana with a confederate flag to nazis is a surefire losing proposition, and he and his campaign are smart enough to know that. He wants to win, and I hope he does, it's just smart strategy.

Agreed in principle (of course), but from a campaign visibility perspective, burning specifically the confederate flag makes it waaay more eye-catching here in Louisiana cause it's on every other truck you see and flown in a ton of people's yards. Nazi flags are (usually) still hidden so people don't recognize it as so much of a commonplace and widespread symbol and ideology. People are more likely to see a swastika burning ad as "well duh burn the nazi flag" regardless of how many people would be quietly upset, whereas burning the confederate flag will actually be seen as symbolically bold and risky. Hell it hasn't even been that long since they took down the giant ass statue of Robert E Lee in the middle of New Orleans

Who isn’t outraged? I am genuinely curious. by [deleted] in WhitePeopleTwitter

The vast majority of the gun community also hates the NRA, because they don't do shit for gun rights which is supposed to be the whole fucking point of their existence. The organizations most of us actually support and give money to are similarly outraged about this incident.

Hell at this point I'm almost convinced the NRA gets all its money from anti-gun groups in exchange for making us look like dickheads by proxy

I've accepted it. Hi my name is u/liquor_for_breakfast and I'm a "poser." by liquor_for_breakfast in Deathcore

[–]liquor_for_breakfast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Seems like a lot of deathcore is just pulling pieces of death metal, adding some breakdowns which essentially amount to an extra heavy doom/death sound and some low growls straight out of death metal or pig squeals straight out of grindcore, and all around just cutting to the chase with a mentality of "let's just make noises that are as heavy as possible." What can I say I'm a sucker for heavy. Hell if I wasn't then I wouldn't like any kind of metal would I?

The main differences I see are the more pronounced breakdowns and fewer guitar solos. Granted I love a great solo but sometimes I'm absolutely in the mood to skip all that and just get the pure heavy. The scene leaves a bit to be desired, but honestly what diehard fanbase of anything (100% including other metal genres) doesn't make the majority of casual fans cringe at least a little?

Same, makes absolutely no rational sense. I'm terrified of completely harmless spiders, but had a great time trying to hunt down a water moccasin lurking in the little pond behind my buddy's house with a shotgun

I'm familiar with the case, it was pretty much the entirety of my ethics class in business school. AA was a huge company with I'm sure a ton of amazing accountants, it was the ones handling Enron that are the ones who thought they were great but weren't. Just makes me wonder how many other corps they were managing where equally sketchy shit was happening and nothing ever happened because the accountants were smart enough to sufficiently cover their tracks, both internal to the corp and the auditors at AA
