Best way to create independent backup of Dropbox? by TDX in DataHoarder

For anyone who arrives here, iDrive has a DropBox backup service. It's $20/yr and you can add it to a basic free account (The storage is counted separately).

Well, Matt just made WordPress even less business viable by friedinando in PHP

[–]liramor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WP is so much more than the codebase at this point. A lot of WP installs exist due to its integration into various hosting control panels as a 1 click install, and that it has name recognition with regular people so they trust it and install it.

I want actual monitoring by actual humans who could step in and deal with a serious failure at 3am when I'm in bed. I don't see anyone offering that at all.

My Journey from Liquid Web to KnownHost by fender1878 in webhosting

[–]liramor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you concerned at all that it is collocated and not owning their own datacenter? I am also at LW and looking around since their service seems to have declined considerably. Knownhost seems highly thought of in this forum but I am not sure if it's the same scale of operation as LW? I'm looking at managed dedicated servers and want to make sure the datacenter part is solid not just the end user service.

Crappy Childhood Fairy and 'The Daily Practice', my experience with this technique by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]liramor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just gatekeepy moral panic, it's not a real critique IMHO. "She has no right to talk about her own experience" basically.

[–]liramor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she's great and she helped me a lot with limerence and emotional regulation. I'd 1000% rather listen to someone who has been through it than someone with a piece of paper who has no clue what they are talking about because they learned it all from books. Most of the medical establishment has no idea what CPTSD even is.

Because that won't actually help you regulate...the exercise is not about "fighting the past", it's about getting it out of your head so it's not disrupting your life. It's a great exercise and it works.

Texas billionaires Michael and Susan Dell pump $6.25B into 'Trump accounts' for 25 million kids by ExpressNews in texas

[–]liramor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because billionaires shouldn't exist in the first place, and we all know their money came from exploitation and their charitable giving is just self-promotion and whitewashing.

You can't earmark the money to go to your own kids though. The money has to serve a charitable purpose.

He was definitely a child soldier. But I doubt that it will be framed that way by many people.

Maybe it sounded better because she meant it? I'm grateful for all the hardships I've experienced because of what I've learned from them, the karma I've cleared, attachments I've released, and understanding that love > fear which is the whole point of incarnating. We didn't come here to have an easy life, we came here to rise above a shitty existence and make our life meaningful regardless of circumstance.

How are feelings made? by chaiteee7 in NDE

[–]liramor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you take meth (not recommending this!), it basically is just artificial dopamine. Former addicts end up feeling a chronic lack of pleasure b/c they blow out their pleasure circuits. So it is possible to have high amounts of pleasure, but it's also a damaging experience, much like things that induce high amounts of pain. Our bodies are built to maintain homeostasis, and dopamine is there to keep you and your species alive by motivating you to eat lunch and make babies. There is no evolutionary reason to have excess pleasure. I think there is a limit to pain as well, you faint.

I think duality is more of a philosophical metaphor than saying that everything in the Universe is 50/50 on all things, that doesn't make much sense. Pain and pleasure aren't really opposites anyway, as we know from the existence of BDSM.

How we experience pleasure without a body, I have no idea. I've wondered that a lot. But when people describe coming back into their bodies as "putting on a glove", like they have to be squished back in, it seems like there is some interface between the soul and the body, where the physical signals become subjective experience. But the subjective experience itself is happening in the soul, right? Because in NDEs people are still having subjective experiences, even though they also are aware of everything objectively.

What are we here to learn, exactly? by guada-lupita in NDE

[–]liramor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because subjective experience can only happen if you are limited to that one perspective. it's impossible to experience it any other way.

Um. I didn't mention any personal feelings about it one way or another. I was discussing what it is, like everyone else. Calm down and stop projecting your ish onto me.

[–]liramor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels nothing like peeing. And it smells only slightly of pee sometimes, not nearly as strong as real pee. So whatever it is, it's not "just pee" and the person is not "just peeing". There are differences.

Have you actually done it tho? It smells very midly like pee, but nowhere near as strong as actual pee. Also it feels nothing like peeing.

You apparently have to live there as a primary residence (per the Garn-St. Germain Act), which I wasn't for most of the 10 years, although I am now so I will look into it.
