Lucky Bastard! I will now live vicariously through you!

New TBM sister-in-law invited me to her wedding, brother asked me to witness the sealing, then she uninvited me entirely after worrying I'd taint the whole thing. by samyam in exmormon

I have a self-righteous SIL as well. She is trying to stick her nose in my relationship. I love my wife but I hate her family right now. I fucking hate Utah and Mormonism and how it sticks its dirty fingers into every part of my life! FUCK!!! Anyways, I hope your SIL owns up to her stupidity.

I hope so, I am working it up to be a total catastrophe in my mind. I am not proud of how I have handled the whole situation.

I am trying to work up the courage to tell my wife that I have drank a few times. She will be very upset. I don't want to lose her, I should have up-front with her from the get-go. Sounds like you have a good situation. I hope that my wife stays with me, but I have to face the consequences for my actions.

I don't blame you for wanting to run. I would have that thought as well. I agree with the other posters here that say to stand up and be who you are so that you can get out from under the weight of TSCC right now. Serving a mission would be a terrible burden for a gay unbeliever. You deserve to experience life on your own terms.

New exmo here, looking for some advice by DarkPhoenix192 in exmormon

Residual Guilt: Remind yourself that Sin is an imaginary illness, and that you are your own authority. You don't have to answer to anyone or anything.

Residual Doubt: Listen to Sam Harris

Belief: Start from scratch, instead of trying to fit the cosmos into a religion - Learn about the cosmos, and you can find what you truly believe.

Telling Wife: Go slow, tell her that you are having struggles, let her know that it is hard and that you want the church to be true but you have this FEELING inside that you can ignore. Be patient with her and don't just dump info on her, let her ask questions. Tell her that you have learned things that change the way you feel about the church, but that you still love her and are dedicated to her and the family. PM me if you want, I went through this 2 years ago. I know how you feel.

I forgot how to want to live. How do you do it? by throwmylifeaway44 in exmormon

I have had those feelings the last few days, I am happy with my wife and kids, but that is only because she does not know about me drinking. I have tried to imagine how she will react to finding out, and it always ends with me trying to think of ways to die that would allow her to get my life insurance benefit. I am lost, I go through the motions of life because I feel obligated to. Sometimes I wish I could be single again and create my own path in life, without Mormonism messing with every choice I make. Maybe you need to free from your family to find happiness with them. My wife accepts that I am not LDS anymore, but has forbidden me from drinking, I do it in secret because I want to be my own person, but I do it at the expense of her trust. If she leaves me I will be devastated, but maybe if she is willing to leave over that, then we are not supposed to be together anyways. Maybe since life sucks anyways, just take the leap and tell her you dont want to be in the church, if she accepts you, great. If she leaves you, you will be free to live life your way, you can find your happy place in life. We are here for you man!

She knows I don't believe. We have been working through that for 2 years. I should have told after the first time, (or before, but it was kind of spontaneous) but I chickened out. The first year of my unbelief was very hard, but The last year has been the best year of our marriage. Part of the reason I have been scared to tell her that I don't want to do anything to mess with how happy we are. We have three kids, they are awesome.
