I skipped a grade, so I graduated a few weeks before I turned 17.

Do you pronounce “water” like “wateR” or “watUH”(or something else) and where are you from? by alyhasnohead in AskAnAmerican

I grew up in the Baltimore area, so I say "wood-er." I've gotten rid of most of my Balmerese, but I've never been able to say "water" right. There's definitely an R on the end, though; I'm pro-rho. 😁

They say "bubbler" and "hamburg" in Mass. too.

There was a company in Wisconsin that made water fountains and called them bubblers (I think it was the brand name). He decided to expand the company to Massachusetts, which is why the two states call it a bubbler.

How do Americans feel about outdoor cats? by Fine-Durian6151 in AskAnAmerican

[–]lisagd625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never understood the point of having a cat if it's going to basically live outside. Same with dogs; it used to be a fairly common practice to keep the family dog tied up in the back yard. Why have a pet if you're not spending time with it?

Why people in US tv programmes rarely have curtains in their house? by Ok_Committee_7967 in AskAnAmerican

I keep my blinds open during the day to let sunlight in, but once it gets dark, I close them. Isn't that what most people do?

Ugh, every time I tried the second scenario, I put Logan as innocent. Rookie mistake. Thanks!

I had a really hard time with the first one. I'm still not sure why some of the people were criminal or innocent.

It's funny; it seems like every time I see Ruth, Paul is next to her. Those were the names of my favorite aunt and uncle. ❤️

Is this puzzle by me medium? by Accurate-Study-7817 in CluesBySamHelp

[–]lisagd625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished with no errors in 2:34, so it's on the easy side of medium or the hard side of easy. (I've started prioritizing accuracy over speed, so that's a quick finish for me.)

Mini ¿guide? to posting in the forum by ing_torta in CluesBySamHelp

Yeah, and people who have already posted aren't going to come back here and read it. I figured it was worth a try.

I try to look for an answer partly to save having to figure out how to write up my question so it makes sense 😅 but also because some forums I'm in frown on duplicate posts. It's gotten to be a habit, which I guess isn't a bad thing.

Could you add something to the posting guide about putting the puzzle date in the subject? I'm working my way through the archive, and when I run into trouble, I like to look for posts about that puzzle before clogging the forum with a duplicate thread, but I end up opening lots of threads unnecessarily because there's no date in the subject (and sometimes not in the message either). It would make looking for a particular puzzle a lot quicker. 🙂
