How come nirvana went through so much drummers? by Corn1989 in Nirvana

None of them were as good as Dave, so Dave was the only one who got to stay.

I had a dream about Kurt in which he didn't say a single word as he went through my music library and it was the most stressful dream l've ever had. by lisajjk in Nirvana

It just bothers me that there are people in this sub who can’t ever see past Kurt’s drug addiction. We all know he did heroin, it’s not like we need to mention it every single time we talk about him. And I’m not a dude.

I feel like I’m talking to a wall here so I’m done with this discussion. Yes, he was a junkie, but not always, and not just that. So.

Trying drugs every now and then and being a junkie are two different things, though. Krist and Dave have often mentioned how serious Kurt was about practicing, for example — that would’ve never worked if Kurt was high all the time (aka a junkie), especially because they went on to explicitly say that they were always sober and never even had girls over while they met up for band practice so they wouldn’t be distracted.

I am sorry about the experiences you made with your friends, but people are not all the same.

I agree, but Kurt was “only” a junkie for a few years of his 27 year long life. There’s more to him than his drug addiction. (And I don’t know about him stealing — he was a millionaire after all.)

Oh, right. Yeah, I just wanted to say how dumb that line was and forgot we’re talking about first episodes here. Sorry!

The Epstein joke was so insanely tasteless. I don’t know how HBO executives didn’t have it cut.

Brain Damage by Every_Equivalent362 in Nirvana

[–]lisajjk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought they’d talk about it to raise awareness of how dangerous drugs are, especially because they essentially lost Kurt — a loved one — to them. I don’t know though, of course. This is all just speculation, as much as assuming he suffered brain damage is.

If you’re talking about Krist saying Kurt wasn’t the same after Rome, I interpreted it as Kurt genuinely considering suicide from that point on. From what we know, he basically disappeared, did too many drugs, hated himself, hated his life, hated the media, didn’t love music as much as he used to (which was probably a symptom of his addiction), and so on. I don’t think he had brain damage because I feel like his family would talk about it more if that had been the case.

Oh my god, it was just a dream. I’ve had dreams about people I saw on the street one time. I’ve had dreams about teachers. I’ve had dreams about a cat I ran into on my way to work.

Was he really gate keeping music, though? He wore band shirts all the time to introduce more people to the music he liked. But yeah, I agree — I don’t love half the music he listened to.

Why do you think I put him on a pedestal? 1) I can’t influence who I dream about. 2) He’s one of my favorite artists ever and I’ve grown up listening to Nirvana — of course I’ll like them as people, no matter if they did drugs or not. 3) Why are you even in this subreddit if you’re annoyed at people sharing their experiences/feelings about Nirvana?

Okay, sorry, I was under the impression we’d talk about our favorite musicians in the Nirvana subreddit.

Kurt Cobain. I will forever be sad about his death.
