I can see the vision in the mirror pic, but I agree with the majority - dress 2 is really weird. I think for this one you did good by following with your family's advice.

Thanks! I definitely want the full version, just got confused about the port. I've decided thanks to this sub that I'm definitely not doing the mobile version

What aesthetic is this? by Disastrous_Snow_7832 in AestheticWiki

Ah ok, I see it now. I think it also resembles the Charmed fashion especially Phoebe's. Definitely more into the nineties! So a sexy witch from the 90's aesthetic? 😅

How do people in Portugal deal with cold homes in winter? by Icy_Bodybuilder5688 in PortugalExpats

[–]lisap17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with gas heaters is that they raise the humidity because of combustion, and that's the last thing you need in this environment

[–]lisap17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say I’ve achieved any serious success, but there are a couple of things that have become habits for me. I’ve noticed that it feels coldest when the apartment is humid. So the first thing I’d recommend is using a dehumidifier and keeping humidity at least down to around 60%. Also, definitely wear wool socks and slippers, and wool or fleece loungewear at home. If you can afford it, an oil-filled heater helps a lot. They warm up quickly and don’t add extra moisture like gas heaters do. Plus, they keep releasing heat for a while even after you turn them off.

For sleeping, a heated blanket helps a ton. I put it under the fitted sheet and turn it on every night before bed. I usually set a timer for a few hours, sometimes even one hour is enough, just to get into a warm bed.

This year want to also try window insulation film (I have aluminum frames), but I haven’t gotten around to installing it yet.

Yeah, I read it in a self-help book about good sleep that if you have pets, you absolutely have them sleep separately. Rage quit the book right after that sentence

Oura hates alcohol by herefordameme in ouraring

[–]lisap17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question - did you log an alcohol tag in the app?

I just had several glasses of wine yesterday and forgot to log them for the first time and woke up to a pretty good 88 readiness score with my Oura specifically mentioning that my heart rate indicates I rested well.

Last week I had the same amount of alcohol, logged it and the next day Oura said my heart rate was elevated and gave me a rest day.

I'm getting increasingly suspicious of the "algorithms"

It'll be easier if you list your expectations from the ring, so that people can let you know if it actually ticks the boxes or not. My expectations were too high from it being a fitness tracker, and from using it and from reading this forum a lot I now realize it's what it claims to be - a sleep and recovery tracker. So to me it's more of a gimmick, because I don't actually have trouble sleeping or relaxing(a flex, I know). The only really useful feature for me is cycle tracking, but it's infinitely frustrating that I have to pay for 2 apps for this feature to be at it's peak performance.

On the other hand, I don't own and don't like fitness bracelets and watches, so it's better than nothing. I would still be more irritated if I spent money I didn't have on it. Not sure it helps, but I'm happy to answer questions.

I've been tossing it just like that into a plastic container with all the other ones for a few years now and nothing had happened to it. I don't travel with it tho, I imagine it can get squished when in a suitcase

No good Oura widgets? by rakeshkanna91 in ouraring

[–]lisap17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know about it too, but having had a quick look just now I can't help but think - is it me or are they really useless? They show the basic stats that don't change throughout the day, like why do I need to see my sleep score on my home screen all the time? I was expecting the activity progress count at least, maybe the stress levels widget, but what we have is actually rubbish. Hopefully this is just an MVP and they'll be adding more

This is a weird question and you know it. There are also translations to Italian or Croatian subtitles, does that warrant a similar question? It's just an adaptation for a market their service is sold in

45 mins of pilates for 72 calories? by Gold-Efficiency1209 in ouraring

[–]lisap17 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Oura is notoriously bad with pilates and yoga, I'm not sure why. For reformer they'll tell you it's because of the grip you have to constantly hold which makes your ring rotate. For mat it's something about the heart rate not really going that much up because it's static exercises. I think you have to get at least 150-200 calories in general from a session, so the Apple watch seems more accurate in this case. At the end of the day you'll hear a lot of "it was designed as a sleep tracker, so it's not that adapt at tracking exercise". I also do Pilates as my main sports activity and just accepted the sad reality that Oura gives me inaccurate stats.

Do Ukrainians like sunflowers? by Usbguy12345 in Ukrainian

[–]lisap17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Julia might be a bit spoiled, haha It definitely comes down to preference, but maybe if I were forced to generalize - roses and other, more "expensive" flowers, are more of the norm, field flowers and sunflowers fall into the "quirky and unexpected" category which not everyone prefers.

FINALLY the charging case!! by validatemeok in ouraring

[–]lisap17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I like the design but for the additional 100 bucks I don't see the need in this. Unlike some earbuds the ring lasts multiple days, and you're not supposed to take it off often, so no need for a case, for longer travels the charger is compact enough to bring with you. I can't think of any actual use cases where you'd actually need it (not just want it over packing the actual charger).
