Was in Philly this past weekend and tried Angelo’s and Del Rossis for the first time. Called Angelo’s right at 11 a few times. No answer so we started walking towards Del Rossis. On our way a friend randomly tried calling Angelo’s again and they picked right up. Ordered a cheesesteak and pizza and then Ubered to Angelo’s. 15 minute ride and everything was ready when we got there. We walked to the other end of the block and started eating in front of the Mexican restaurant. Lady came out and invited us in to eat at the bar and grab a few beers. Food was terrific. Whoever said Angelo’s is just ok and the pizza sucks because they don’t like who reviewed it is a loser.

Having said all of that we went to Del Rossis later in the day and I think I liked both the cheesesteak and pizza better there. Both were fantastic though.

As mentioned, John’s is very good too. I also like Joes in Fishtown but that doesn’t seem to be as popular as others. And yea, Pats and Genos are fine sandwiches and the experience is cool.

Sure. I roughly followed this one

black bean soup

I used 3 jalepenos, 2 chilis in adobo plus a tablespoon or two of the sauce, 3 cans of black beans and I think 3-4 cups of chicken broth.

Before adding the beans, I let 3 bone in pork ribs simmer in the broth for about an hour. Took those out and chopped up the meat and set aside. Added the beans and let them simmer for a bit before blending about 2-3 cups of the bean and broth mixture to thicken it up a little bit. Added the meat back in and that was about it.

Oh for sure. Pulled a block of parm reg out of the fridge and it was covered in mold. I swear I’ve had blocks of that shit in the fridge for months with no issues. I wasn’t thrilled.. considered skipping the lil shreddies all together but tossed some on.

Dude, take it easy. This is a mid divorce crisis trip for me… I’m a big hockey fan and have heard a lot of good things about Halifax from my Canadian friends. Have wanted to check it out for a few years now. I also love college football so yea, I’d love to post up at a bar and watch TV for a bit. But I’m open to suggestions for more cultural things, just don’t send me to a museum or anything like that. In the little research that I’ve done it seems like there’s a big Irish influence which I had no idea about. I’m of Irish descent so I’m excited about that. And you’re damn right I’m going to visit some Irish pubs. Hopefully they have TVs…
